Question about Radio Communications
My friends tk 280 was not receiving very well so he took the cover off to check the antenna connection. He said everything looked good so he put the cover back on and now when he pushes the ptt button the radio makes a loud tone. I asked him to check and see if the radio was actually transmitting by letting someone listen on another radio or scanner on the same frequency and he said that it is transmitting and you can also hear the loud tone on the other radio. This radio is used in our local rescue service so we need to get it fixed as soon as possible. Thanx for any help

The ptt switch or circuit is not disconnecting the audio circuit. Open the unit up and check the wiring, interconnect plugs for something shorted not canceling the receiver audio.
