Question about Kenmore 62722 Electric Dryer

My Dryer has power, spins the drum, but only air

My Dryer has power spins the drum but only air drys (no heat). We can actually open the door and it will still spin meaning a faulty door switch. Would replacing the door switch fix the heating problem as well or is there something else I would need to do?

Well I know that older dryers came with a wiring schematic for where all the wires go, but yours may not. There is a lot of experimenting with dryers when it comes to diagnosing. I would say that it is very possible a door switch could cause that depending the position its stuck in. If no power is going through that switch then the heating elements may work off of whether that switch switch is operating or not. If your heating elements worked before this then I would have no doubt that they are working now. If the switch being replaced doesn't work I would then go and check for full voltage at your main terminals (120V per power wire and 240V across both of the wires)

Dryer powers on but drum does not spin and no heat. Drum is free by hand and door switch is functional - light goes on when door opens.

If you can hear the motor running when you turn the dryer on but the drum does not turn, it may be that the belt has broken or the idler has come loose. You don't mention the make and model of dryer but most are driven by a long belt that goes from the motor at the bottom of the dryer over the drum. It is held tight by an idler pulley. Google "drum will not turn" along with your make and model so find out how to gain access to the underside of the dryer to make sure the belt is intact.

Aeq6000 won't turn off

This has to do with the control board failure. The control board runs every aspect of the dryer and will need to be replaced. Here is the new control board.

Dryer powers up but won't start - smell of electrical burning. Is it the motor bushes? zanussi TC7103W

Electric dryers usually have a motor with a switch that prevents the heating element from being powered until the motor is spinning. In series with this are limit switches to prevent overheating if there is too much lint or too little air flow around the heating element. Also, the motors are induction or brushless. So the smell is coming from the heating element burning off some lint nearby as it reaches the high limit temperature and shuts off. This can be due to two conditions if we can assume the motor is running (has a switch that is closing to power the heating element). The most likely condition is that the drive belt is off the pulley or broken and the drum is not turning. You will be able to tell this easily by sounds or by opening the door to see the drum slowing down. If that's not it, examine the blower which forces air through the drum. There are a lot of variations, so look for air intake and drum exhaust ports that can be clogged with a sock, lint, etc.

Hotpoint Dryer Heater stays on when door is opened

Strange. Heaters usually shut down with the spinning drum when door is open. If you check the schematic for unit you can check to see if in fact this is correct operation. Attached site usually has schematics for appliances. You might want to check. Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts

In dryers, the small clothes can get caught in one of the drum seals and make a scrapping noise, ( remove power, grab a flash light and have a peek inside through the door opening ) or the cloth can actually pass through one of the heating duct holes at the back of the drum and touch something electrical like the heating element, thermostats and so the noise comming.
