Start with these five simple solutions: Reset, retry, restart, reinstall, or restore

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod.five_rs/

I think restore might do the trick. follow the instuctions, Ipod video / ipod classic.

If you need more assistance let me know. Good luck.

I have an external WD My Passport hard drive but Pages says it cannot create a file when I try to save a document on the external hard drive. Is it because the file format is not compatible with Imac? Can...

Apple Pages has a few bugs like this. There is a work around.
  1. Save to Desktop or Documents folder on the System Drive
  2. In Finder, move the file to your external drive.
  3. Now when you open the file from your external any saves will continue to go to your external drive.
It's a bit of a pain but works for now.
All the best

Hi, im trying to install windows 7 ultimate onto my gateway. I bought it retail from best buy and am having problem with the install... is it factory set for me not to be able to install an operating...

If you bought a full retail version and not an upgrade, you may need to do a fresh installation of windows. You also need to make certain that your gateway model is able to upgrade to windows 7. Checking your computer's support page, there are no BIOS updates available. Your computer should be fully capable of upgrading to windows 7 from windows Vista. ALso looking at Gateway's support page for this model, there are no drivers offered for Windows 7. All drivers offered are for windows Vista. I have seen computers in the past that will not tolerate an operating system change from the system that was installed at the factory.

If you have a restore partition, you can back up your data, and do a clean install of windows after formatting your hard drive. You may also want to make recovery disks for your computer in case the Win 7 will take on your computer or you cannot get your hardware to work with Win 7 since Gateway offers no Win 7 drivers.
Good luck. Take precautions to back up data and be able to revert to your original factory settings if necessary.

Iomega 1TB HD Works on iMac but not on Windows Laptop?

as the mac has a diffreent format to a pc you cannot connect up the drive to a pc because it simply wont recodnise it. the best way is to network the 2 computers together then alow file sharing on the mac and searcc with windows through the network to find the drive. then copy them across the network to your pc. this will then reformat the files to PC files at they hit your PC

Hi Jay,

Sounds like the phillips drive is formatted in NTFS (windows file system). Mac OS knows how to read files on windows drives but cannot save to this file system.

If you need to move the drive between Windows and Mac PCs you will need to either format it as FAT32 if it's small enough which is compatible for both or you will need to format it with the Mac then install MacDisk on the PC so it can read and write to the Mac file system.

Either way, copy your files off the drive to your PC before reformatting it.

Feel free to comment back if you need more help or read my FAQ on the topic. The top half of the article will cover your needs.

When i connect my ipod and wanna syncronize it is giving me this massage(itunes has detected a macintosh-formatted ipod. you must restore this ipod before you can use it on windows)

Yes to use a mac formatted ipod with windows you must reformat. But a PC formatted ipod can be read by a MAC. It seems silly and complicated, just remember ipods came out before OSX and ipods had a different file format. Almost all ipods are "PC" formatted now so people dont have this issue unless you want it that way.

IPOD NANO THIRD GEN.

Turn on the iPod and look at the firmware rev. You should find this in Settings - About and then press the play button twice to see the firmware screen. You will see the Version and should look something like 1.0.3 PC.

You cannot use a PC formatted unit on a Mac and vice-versa unless you re-format the unit using iTunes.

Since you bought this unit is Thailand, I would make sure it's an actual Apple iPod and not a knock-off.
