You can make a startup CD instead of a floppy disk. First you have to open the BIOS and set the CD Rom drive as the First Boot seek drive.

Then follow the following steps in creating a bootable CD:
1. Create a bootable floppy disk that has all required driver and start-up software on it. You will need a CD driver in order to use the CD in a conventional manner once the system has finished booting. It is wise to use a generic CD driver if you plan on using it in a few different systems.

2 Make sure that any path names in the config.sys and autoexec. bat files do not specify drive letters.

3. Make sure your boot process does not attempt to write to the disk. Set the read-only flag on all files and write-protect the disk if possible. If your system tries to write to the CD on boot-up, it will crash.

4. Test this disk thoroughly in whatever PC environments you wish to use it.

5. Once you are happy with the bootable disk, create the CD with your CDR publishing package. Selecting the "bootable" option will usually prompt for the floppy disk. Put any other data onto the CD in the same session.

How do i remove a cd that is stuck in my car

Usually you can get them out using tweezers. One method I have found helpful is to get a floopy disk and remove the part that slides back and forth(this will make the floopy disk no longer able to store or read data) and use that like tweezers. I have removed a lot of CDs from macbooks using the floopy disk method.

Boot up problem

I thiknk your hard drive may have failed/corrupt. If so, a simple reformat will do. But if it has crashed, you will have to get a new hard disk. If you are really desperate about your data on your dead hard disk, go for a hard disk recovery activity. It may be costly though.

Dell l400 problem

1.If you purchase an external USB CD drive you will not need to use your floppy discs for booting. 2. You can connect a USB CD drive to your system. 3. Your system will recognize any device plugged into your USB drive. 4. There is no CD drive available for internal installation in your computer. 5. With the USB CD drive plugged in and the windows installation disc inserted, your computer should take you through the setup program automatically.

I have an old G3 and when I power it up it gives me a floopy disk in the middle of the screen with a ? mark flashing I have no start up floopy can you let me create one

You could try to start from the Disk Tools PPC (can be found here; the Disk Copy 6.3.3 utility, and another Mac with a floppy drive, would be required to make a bootable floppy from the disk image). Otherwise, an appropriate version of the operating system on CD will be needed.

Floopy disk

Regarding configuring flopy drive for desktop please check these things

The wire on the ribbon cable with the red stripe is the pin 1 end and there should be a mark on the floppy drive as well marking the pin 1 end. Sometimes a little arrow or triangle point at pin1 sometimes stenciled with a number.
