Ribbon does not advance?

The ribbon does not advance - I have tried a new ribbon but it seems to just keep typing over the same spot. I need to advance it manually.

How come the new ribbon does not turn on the typewriter

Your typewriter needs internal repair (unless the new ribbon was installed incorrectly).

My Brother ML 100 typewriter does not print because the film ribbon does not advance while typing. It keeps striking the same spot on the ribbon and therefore, no typing appears on the paper. If I remove...

I've had several of these ribbon cartridges do this. You might get lucky and get it freed up, but I rarely did. Look in the windows of the cartridge and see if the ribbon is not wound evenly...if it isn't you can try gently tapping the cartridge on a flat surface to attempt to even out the ribbon on the spool. If you are not successful, then replace the cartridge. I had mine for almost 10 years and the cartridge was always the problem. Otherwise the typewriter worked flawlessly. Good luck.

The ribbon is not moving so the letters keeping typing onn the same spot I changed the ribbon but it still does the same thing

You may be in the overstrike ribbon. Try CODE period, comma or slash. (I can't ever remember which) to get out of it.

I start typing and maybe a couple of minutes later the hammer just doesn't seem to make contact, and therefore no print displayed.

could be a probvlem with the ribbon. take the ribbon out and look at it. is the ink gone in one spot where it stoped printing? advance it by hand while watching the ribbon. does it stop feeding after a while? get a new ribbon. if it feeds fine by hand but not in the machine, then you have a problem with the machine. take it to a repair shop, or get a new one. sorry, no easy fix on this one (same thing if the printhammer itself isn't working)

The ribbon does not roll as you type so the ribbon wears in one spot. Seems to be on the cartridge base correctly.

put a mark on the gear that turns the ribbon (pen or sharpy) and type with the ribbon off (you may have to close the cover to do this. and watch the gear to see if it turns..if it does, you have a defective ribbon if it doesn't, you have a defective typewriter that need professional help.

Ribbon will not advance

mark the ribbon where it turns, where there is a pin of the typewriter passing through the ribbon, mark it with a white marker.
and type something, if it doesnt turn, you know the machine has a problem.
or try everytime pressing on the ribbon, if it works you know the ribbon is coming up, check if the correction ribbon is placed good.behind the correctable ribbon.

I have a persona C30 card printer by Fargo and it keeps telling me that the ribbon is broke when in fact it isn't....I put in a new ribbon cartridge thinking maybe I had a bad ribbon, but that doesn't seem...

run forgo diagnostic utility given on your installation cd
Try by doing all the tools under mechanics tab most importantly ribbon sensor calibration and advance & reverse ribbon drive motor by removing the ribbon as instructed by the manufacturer

The ribbon is not moving for each new letter being typed. Its very slow so when you are typing a word it just keeps going over the same spot on the ribbon.

I'll try thisagain use the code key with one of these 3 keys ,.
. , or / this will take you out of the uverstrike ribbon mode.

The ribbon doesn't advance at all? Try turning the ribbon by hand. If it is really hard to turn, or doesn't advance when you turn the knob (make sure you turn it in the direction of the arrow), then the ribbon is defective and you just need to get a good one.
If the ribbon turns easily, the leave the ribbon off, type and watch to see if the black knob on the left of the ribbon plate (the place where you put the ribbon), that turns the ribbon, is moving.
Also I have found that some brands of ribbons simply do not work on this machine. If the ribbon and the ribbon drive is working, try a different brand of ribbon.
