Pull out the pwr cord and press the pwr button for one min and then release. this process is called as power drain. replug the pwr cord at the back of the computer and check. if its works then good or else replace the SMPS the power unit inside the computer. for sure it has gone bad. power unit is easily available in nearby retail outlets.

Got issues with some kind of background noise that suddenly shows up after some minutes of use... Its some kind of a buzzing sound, that appear once a while and stays there until i turn the sound off.

There are a few things that can cause this kind of sound through your speakers. First off, your cable wire. If it's not attached to the subwoofer, remove it and try a different cable. It could be that a piece of the wiring inside the cable has been damaged. If this doesn't help, your next bet would be to check the sound card inside the computer. Try plugging in a different pair of speakers or some headphones. If you still hear the buzzing sound your sound card needs to be repaired or replaced. Finally, you could have some electrical interference caused by certain devices like a cell phone or your TV. Try turning the devices off and see if the buzzing sound is still being heard.

On start up i have lights 1 and 3 lit up only and a periodic buzzing noise from inside the tower (every couple of seconds). after about 15 seconds the buzzing stops, the lights stay on and nothing else...

Hi,
The problem is due loose memory sticks or mismatched memory sticks.
You need to open the computer tower and reseat the memory modules on the machine to fix the issue.

Scratchy sound within processor

Hi there and welcome to FixYa!

Sounds like you have a build up of dust collected in the fan of your computer which will cause the sound you described.

If you are comfortable with computers, go ahead and open up with the computer tower and use some of the compressed air cleaner you buy at Best Buy or Office Depot to clean it out. This should solve the problem :)

If you are not comfortable, take it into a computer repair store and explain the situation. It should be a very quick, inexpensive fix on their part.

Hope this helps and have a Happy Holiday!
