Question about Polaroid FLM-4234BH 42 in. LCD HDTV
There are two likely options: either one of the backlight inverters has burned or the power supply has a puffed cap and doesn't provide voltage for the inverters.
The simplest way to tell is to use a voltmeter and find if power provides 24V to inverters. It's easy to see where, there are at least 5 wires for ground and another 5 for the 24V line, so it's a no brainer to find them,
If there is 24V on the inverter then either the master or the slave is burned.
Chances are good you may be able to find which one by testing the fuses on them.
Finally, the master backlight board is 6632L-0346A and the slave is 6632L-0347A.
Hope this helps!

if will tell you how to trouble shoot this tv. these tv's are known for two caps in the power supply to go bad and they need replaced then you have to test the sdr boards if they are bad you need replacement boards or you can send them off to be repaired. the link for the repair guy is on the page. this guy also sells the repair on ebay but if you contact him directly i beleave the price is lower. just tell him you were send over by home theater shack.
If your handy you can repair this tv for not to much money. you need to buy two caps and maybe send one or both sdr boards out for repair. I would say anywere from 50 to 125 dollars you can repair it yourself. As long as no other parts are bad.
