Broken ice cube stripper

I have a GTS17FCSERWW purchased in Sept. 2007 and am having problems with the ice maker jamming. It jammed amd broke one of the fingers on the cube stripper-the snap in L shaped plastic piece that strips the cubes from the top of the ice maker. I need to replace this piece & would appreciate any suggestions to solve this problem.

I have a GE french door refrigerator bought in Sept. 2007. Worked fine for 4 months then quit making ice. Found ice stripper dislodged from installed locaion and just snapped snapped it back on without close examination. From then on an ice cube would jam in the rear cube cup whenever ice was being ejected. Found that one of the stripper finger in back was broken off. Replaced the stripper and it now works fine again. Seems like the rear stripper finger is not designed strong enough, since it is only half the width of the others and has no underside support.

I have the same problem with the ice stripper. GE said I needed to buy a new ice maker. Where can I buy just the stripper

I have the same problem. The last finger on the stripper broke off and the entire stripper piece will disconnect from the unit. I have not been able to find where to buy a new ice stripper.

A GE Profile side by side with bottom freezer. The ice stripper fell off and I can see the left most tooth is broken.

Where can I get a replacement and how is it installed?

Same problem with my GE Monogram ice maker in the pull-out freezer in this unit. The last finger on the stripper snapped off, and I found the stripper in the bottom of the freezer. Clearly, this is a problem GE needs to address. The replacement part I found online has one more tooth than mine. Can you advise where to find this part? Thanks.

Same thing, broken stripper GE says buy a new ice maker. That's a really poor policy for a design flaw.

I have a side-by-side Kenmore refrigerator that I purchased in 2002. About every 6 to 9 months the ice stripper pops loose on the right side causing the ice maker to stop. I remove the ice maker from the freezer, warm the stripper with a hair dryer, and pop the stripper back in place. This has gotten to be very frustrating. I expect the L-shaped tab which holds the right side of the stripper to break off at any time. I have found that the stripper can be purchased from for about $20 plus shipping. At some point I will probably have to buy a new ice stripper, if not the entire ice maker.

SOURCE: Problems with ice maker

If the cubes are fusing together (such as when you overfill an ice tray), your solution could be as simple as adjusting the fill volume (there should be an adjustment under the front plastic cover, and the cover should just pop off and snap back on unless you see screws attaching it) and when your ice maker was replaced this probably wasn't calibrated correctly. Your mention of the side of the maker bulging also leads me to believe the water is overflowing and freezing within the dispenser (causing it to bulge and not dispense).
I hope this helps and Good luck.

SOURCE: Ice cube dispenser not working

Not real familiar with that specific model but it sounds like the heating element isn't working to loosen the ice from the tray as it's dumped. A typical ice maker has a small heat element under it to melt the surface of the ice just slightly while it dumps.

SOURCE: water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

You will need to replace the icemaker. The sensor that activates the heat coil in the icemaker is bad. The heat sensor allows the cubes to be released from being frozen to the ice tray. Check ebay for a new icemaker. About one third the price of manufacturer for new factory unit.

Where you say occasionally, I would suspect a rough edge on your stripper arm or a ejector arm slightly out of alignment.

Not a whole lot you can do but to keep the frost down.

Until a couple months later when it builds up

Make sure to double check your freezer is sealing correctly, bad gasket causes moisture to be sucked in.

Ice maker tray will not rotate and dump ice. It tries to, but only moves very little. What can I do?

I am a retired service technician. There is a strong possibility that you have a jam. Often ice makers become jammed with cubes that have not dumped. I have also found a plastic sandwich bag that has jammed the ice maker. So, first inspect for a jam.
If there is no jam then the plastic gearing is broken in the motor module.
Hopefully it is just a simple jam.

Timer ice maker kenmore side

If the timer piece you are referring to is behind the square white cover, and it's moving slightly back and forth, you should visually check the ice making area it's self to see if the ejector fingers are jammed with ice, or against the ice stripper. Ice Maker jams can be caused by reduced water pressure to the unit mainly from the water filter, your water filter in the toe kick should be replaced at an interval of 6 months to a year, regardless of filter status light. When water pressure is low, not enough water fills the unit and the undersized cubes can become lodged or stuck in the ice maker while being ejected, equally so if there is an over fill situation caused by other failures the ice maker can't eject at all. Ge refrigerator gts22wcm ice

Inspect the ice maker itself, sounds like either you have a jammed cube or your ice maker is not turning on heater to eject ice cubes from mold. If heater is the failure - replace ice maker. If unit is jammed, clear the ice maker mold and allow to cycle to see if damage was done to gear or ice production is restored.

Can't make ice cubes only crushed ice

Hi: There is a flap right where the ice dispenses. When you remove the bin you will see it when inverted. This flap has to open for the ice to be cubed. You might rember a slap as it swung open when it worked. There is a bar that runs from the flap to the back of the dispenser. Work it manually to see if it's jammed or broken. If not look at the back of the freezer and remove the metal panel if neccessary, to find the jam or defective part. I hope this helps, Jeff

Ice jams in KUIS18NNJB Kitchenaid under counter ice maker

There are 2 sets of wires on the cutting grid that are perpendicular to each other. Electrical current passing through the wires creates heat that melts the ice. The first set cuts one direction, then the ice strips drop onto the second set that cuts the strips into cubes. Remove the cutter grid and check if the wires are broken. If they are, electrical current can't pass through the wires, so no heat. Restringing kits are available to fix this. If the wires aren't broken, you'll need a voltmeter to see if current is reaching the wires. If it isn't, then the transformer has likely failed.

Be sure that the fill tube is getting into the ice maker and that the ice maker is not blocked with ice.  If everything seems ok, you may have a leaking water valve which causes it to constantly drip water into the ice maker causing the block of ice.
