Generic problem for all Vacuums
1957 Sunbeam Twin-Blade electric lawn mower shaft...
Posted by mower man on Jun 08, 2008
I have a late 50's series Sunbeam twin-blade electric lawn mower that I use regularly. The shaft bushing(s) on the left blade has worn out, and there's too much play for me to run it w/o ruining the machine.
It appears that the belt-run cog inside the housing is the part that is supposed to come off of the shaft to get to the bushings, but instead of a cotter pin or other fastener holding the cog in place, it looks like a rolled metal pin that may have been pressed in place.
How do I replace the shaft bushings so I can keep using this great vintage appliance!? I found a website that supplies parts for this model year, but no schematics or user manuals. Thanks!

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. This website is for vacuums and you would need to contact a local lawn mower shop in the yellow pages, they are amazing about the way they can fix old lawnmowers.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
Thanks, Don the Vac Man

SOURCE: the flywheel pin needs replacing on 3.5hp briggs and strat.engine

Take off the top sheet metal , there should be a nut & spring washer that will have to come off, they will be tight. Put the nut back on a few threads, use a prybar to put some upward pressure on the flywheel at the keyway side, while hitting down on the nut with a block of wood & large hammer. This should pop the flywheel loose from the taper shaft, replace drive key with ALUMINUM key!!

An impact wrench is sometimes necessary to get the nut loose.

SOURCE: Severed Shear Pin Poulan P35TN20SE

First and foremost check to see if the crankshaft was bent when you hit the culvert. Remove the spark plug, Tilt the mower on its side at a 45 degree angle and while someone slowly pulls the starter rope see if the shaft where the blade attachs wobbles. If it does then you will need to replace the crankshaft (which can be expensive in some models). If it isn't bent, then the shroud that covers the flywheel is removed along with the other parts in that area and a flywheel "knocker" is used to remove the flywheel. At this point the old key is visible and you can see if it is sheered or not, If it is, then reverse the directions just followed after replacing the flywheel key. Chances are 99% it isn't the key, but the crankshaft.

My mitsubishi 60 inch tv

Good day!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

My beloved sander dosn't get up to speed and is starting to make a grinding noise; is there maintenance I should be doing? Possibly replace motor bushings? Bearings???

I just had the same problem with mine. I replaced the motor start capacitor with one from Grainger and it starts like a champ now. I found one that had the same specs as the stock one and it also fits inside the cover perfectly. Here are my notes:

Grainger Item 2MDR5

MFD Rating: 189-227

Voltage: 110-125

Hz: 60/50

Shape: Round

Dia. (In.): 1-7/16

Case Height (In.): 2-3/4

Overall Height (In.): 2-3/4

Original start capacitor was:

125/156V AV

200 UF

Blue shrink wrapped can with pigtails.

Length: 81mm (3.19")

Diameter: 34mm (1.34")

I have a sears bench grinder need new capacitor cap 10uf wv 250ac part number cbb 60-1 where can I get one

If you take that capacitor to a hardware, Heating and Air store they will probably have a replacement for it. The 10 Mfd and 250 WVAC are the main values and the physical size. No mater what the part number the main consideration is capacity and max working voltage. You should be able to find one that will work for you.

TV power keeps clicking off and on no picture

Hello,This problem happens when the voltage of pin 1 of IC804 is low. The low voltage is caused by pin 4 not being 20V this is caused by two capacitors not functioning properly ( a 22uf cap in parallel with a .1uf cap) replace these and replace the 24K ohms resistor with a 44K ohms resistor (as per update specs). This should bring pin 4 to 20V and allow the set to activate. Replacing the 24K with a 44K is recommended by the manufacture to prevent the cap from going bad.Or if you do not want to do this yourself have a qualified TV technician do this for you.Thank you,Shuttle83

Partial theft

As far as replacing the dvd any dvd player will work, as far as your LCR speakers go ( left, center, right ) it would be best to replace them with the same ones that came with the whole system, at least you want them to be same in size, power, and manufacture relative to the 2 rear speakers, at the very least the replacements should be same in size and power relative to the originals even if not from same manufacturer so as to attain relative level balance with the rear speakers, at the very very least any LCR replacement speakers will do really. The main point is keeping the relative balance between the LCR and rear speakers, the sub can be adjusted on its own. Sorry to hear about your theft by the way, that sucks.

I need to replace my capacitor in my 60 Ct 4 but there are no specs on the unit all it says is "Frako, Kapazitatskonstant, 333 39 0010-1, 87 26" can someone tell me what the specs on that unit...

Send the flash to the manufacture or their authorized service rep for proper service. These capacitors are charged to high voltage and are discharged with very high current.

There are serious safety issues with these capacitors. The flash manufactures normaly will not give out service information or supply support for self service. There are serious liability and safety issues involved.

For personal interest, below is a very good article on basic capcitor theory and history. If you have a background in physics and math, this article can be well appreciated.

55 in Sony KDF55WF655 Goes to standby and red light blinks 4 times

Check the thermal sensor fuse part# 1-910-023-93 or possibly one of the four fans. If the unit goes into Fan/Thermal Protect shutdown (4 blinks) it can be difficult to determine the cause since the unit turns off too quickly to troubleshoot. Solution: Ground the data line by inserting a jumper between pins 3 and 6 of CN44 on the H4 board. This overrides the protection circuits for troubleshooting. Do this right after turning the unit on and as soon as the lamp is seen lighting. Check pins 2, 5, 8, and 11 of CN6000 on the G2 board for less than 1VDC. Any voltage higher than that indicates a faulty fan. If all voltages are within specs, the H4 board must be replaced. If a fan is found defective, the optical block will need to be replaced if it is located inside the assembly. H4 Board Part Number: A1054674A Replace the following part based on which pin of CN6000 is out of specs: Pin 2: Fan 1 (part of optical block) Pin 5: Fan 2 178723211 Pin 8: Fan 3 178706511 Pin 11: Fan 4 178708111 Optical block Part Number: A1084662A

Metz 60-4 flash takes much longer than normal for the ready light to come on to allow me to take another photo.

It is likely the capacitor in the battery pack. If they are not powered up every month, they dry out resulting in long power up and recycle times. You'll need to get it replaced to rejuvenate your 60 CT-4 to its original spec.
