Question about Microsoft Metrologic MS7120 ORBIT Barcode Scanner

Open Question

Orbit MS7120 character scanning problem

I have an Orbit MS7120 which I am using to scan some Code39 barcodes. It normally works brilliantly but won't scan barcodes of 3 characters or less? I've also noticed that although most of the barcodes are alpha numeric a couple of them have a double quote character (these barcodes represent product codes and some of them have an "inches reference in them). Is there anything I can do to get the scanner to recognise 3 character barcodes or the quotations character? Thanks in advance for any help.

SOURCE: Code 128 Barcode Problem

Hello paul blando. I think I can help you here. First, are you sure your barcodes with asterisks are Code128 like the others? Generally a Code128 barcode will look like: "(1234) 567890 (01) 123456" and wouldn't really use asterisks at all. However, I know that it is standard practice for people who make their own Code39 barcodes to start and end the code with an asterisk to denote a start/stop action. Could they be Code39? They would look like: "*123456789*". If this is the case, then I have the manual for the P370/P470 on my company's site here. Take a look at the Code39 Chapter and make sure to print and scan the pages to disable the check-digit transmittal. If that doesn't do the trick, then try the "recall defaults" or "reset to defaults" barcode to reset the scanner to it's initial defaults. That should put it on track. If you still have trouble, please feel free to send me a message or email me. I hope this helps. Good luck!

SOURCE: We are using a Metrologic MS9520 (keyboard wedge)

What I would first is to bring the barcode scanner back to factory defaults. To do this you will need the manual that came with the scanner, on the first page is a bar code that say "enter/exit configuration mode" scan that first and you will hear three beeps, then scan the bar code for "recall defaults" and rescan the bar code to "enter/exit configuration mode" then retry using your scanner, if this does not work bring up "notepad" on your computer and try to scan any bar code form any retail item. This should scan, if it does net then it could be a defective scanner. See page 2 on the manual link

The scanner works fine but it doesn't automatically submit the info. Is there a setting somewhere that allows it to work this way?

scan "enable CR suffix" from your manual. You may also have to scan "enable LF suffix", but try it without first.

Make buzz noise & fan comes on

1) Tes the voltage tension from you outlet wallet.

2) if the voltage is low from 10% , you must use stabilizer voltage.

3) If everything is o.k , you need to lube the fan motor, and tight the connectors

Hello, if all your barcodes have the same structure, it will an easy task. You would need to scan following barcodes from ADF chapter in the Product Reference Guide located at http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=5880807apdf
Create New Rule Send Characters Up To Space Character in Alfanumeric Section Skip Ahead 1 Send All That Remains Save Rule
This will by all scanned barcodes send all characters up to the space character, skip the space and send the rest of data.

Zebra S4M Lable Printer Not Scanning

You might want to check the barcode ratio, bar width, printer speed and printer darkness. I am assuming that you are creating the barcode in some sort of label design package, correct? You either need wider bars, or make sure you have enough quiet zone on both sides of the barcode, so shrinking it might be the solution as well.
