Maybe it's cd/dvd lens sensitivity problem. Try to copy the cd/dvd and then boot with the copy one.

Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7815 re-soldered cmos battery onto mother board and re-set the bios, now I have the f2 and f12 option available, tried to boot cd/dvd drive with windows 8 disk and it will not

Go into the BIOS setting abd check it the BIOS detects the hard disk and CD/DVD drive.
If it detects these drives then go to the boot device order and select the CD as the first boot device then the hard disk as the 2nd boot device.

Dell inspiron 2200. The DVD ROM can read DVD's but Im unable to boot from it with a boot disk.

Have you verified that the disk you are trying to boot is bootable and not damaged on it's boot sector?
Does the drive read other DVDs (after boot into OS?)

Comp will not boot after installing a SATA DVD-RW

Perhaps your bios is set to boot from the 1st device it 'sees'.
When you add the dvd drive, maybe the device order gets shuffled up, making the dvd drive 1st. So, you need to check this by looking at the boot settings on the bios screen and change the boot order if necessary.

Tried to boot from USD, CD/DVD Drive but failed. Still showing No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

To boot up from the DVD drive go into the BIOS setting - boot device order and move the DVD as the first boot device and the hard disk as the 2nd boot device.
If you want to boot up with the USB then move the USB as the first device. If the USB is not listed as a boot device then it is not possible to boot up with an USB device.

Hi there,
We Wish You a Happy New year.
Step 1: This might be because of external devices or non-bootable CD or DVD in the CD/DVD drive. Remove all the external devices (including pen drive/flash drive/CD or DVD disc) connected to your computer and then check for the issue.

Step 2: It might also happen if system is unable to find any bootable device.
Try restoring default setting in BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) and check. Also please check for the boot priority. For this you have you to contact the system manufacturer.

Step 3:Clickthe below link and follow the steps.

I have sata dvd writer.when i connect it my computer does not boot.does intel D102ggc2 supports sata dvd writer?

You're Intel motherboard does support up to 4 SATA hard disk drives including SATA CD-ROM / DVD-ROM drive, reader/writers. This MB also includes two serial ATA IDE ports.
The most likely reason you're system is not booting is because all SATA ports are all seen as Master drives. By connecting the SATA DVD-ROM drive the bios auto configured the SATA ports.
You'll need to enter the bios when you're system boots-up. Press the F2 key on you're keyboard right after hearing a single beep. You will than enter the bios main menu. Listed at the main menu are devices connect to the motherboard. (Instruction on how to move around in the bios is listed at the bottom of the screen). Mainly, the hard disk drive or (drives) and the SATA DVD writer. You'll need to open the Boot tab. Look for boot order. You want the boot order set like so;
First boot device: [Floppy disk] drive; if one is connected.
Second Boot device: [Primary Hard Disk] drive.
(The drive with windows installed on it). (This drive may be ATA IDE or SATA; you did not provide that information).
Third Boot device: [DVD-Rom] drive. Save and exit the bios. The system will auto restart.
You're windows operating system should load correctly after the auto re-start.
The SATA data cable and the SATA power cable should be checked for good connection. It only takes a little bump to make either loose.
Here is the link to Intel for you're motherboard;

Good luck!

My pc won't boot from cd-rom... Bios recognizes both cd-rom drive and hdd, and boot sequence is set to boot from cd-rom but when it comes to boot from the windows XP install dvd it shows the message...

you are saying two differnt things here.. CDROM and DVD if its a dvd in a CD ROM it will not boot a windows disk if somehow this is written to a DVD Is it original?
Secondly is the Cd ( or DVD drive) actaully working. Being listed in CMOS does not guarantee that.

I know you have listed the drive as DVD but do you have 1 or two drives installed and not have the disk in the recognised drive.; have to eliminatge all possibilities of werror in interpretation here.

So assuming everything appears as it should, then the medial in the drive has to be considered at fault .. dirty disk.. drive needs iris clean, not an original disk, damaged disk, not a boot disk.. just a windows cvopy.;

When I connect my SATA dvd drive my comp continuously restarts. Without it, it runs fine.

2, cd rom

Pavilion dv2125nr won't boot

it could be dead mobo, it's actually the most probable cause of your problem, but there is this thing i've encountered with HP several times already. i know it's a long shot, but i'd like you to try and boot the laptop up after you've removed the DVD-drive. if this works, it's the DVD-drive that's broken, if not, it'll be the mobo...

Ok,
Pop the disk in the drive and make sure the disk is clean.
Restart the PC and go into the bios, set the bios to defaults, hit F10, save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and hopefully boot from the DVD.
