Question about Cuisinart ICE-30BC 2 Quart Ice Cream Maker

2 Answers

Does not work

This is a new icecream maker and we have tried two recipes and they both came out soupy. The bowl was frozen overnight on the lowest setting in the freezer and I used cream and whole milk. It doesn't seem like the machine spins the bowl very fast and I am not sure what the arm is doing except scraping the sides of the bowl.
So frustrated, help

I have the exact same problem. I store the bowl in a deep freezer at -5F. I've tried simple recipes (whole milk, cream, sugar, vanilla) as well more complex custard-like recipes with eggs and the result is always the same.... A very soupy, ice crystal-laden, clumpy slush.

If you put the "slush" in the deep freezer, it simply freezes just as a bowl of water would. Basically a giant ice block.

whenever i make ice cream it comes out as a soupy slush. i did everything according to instructions, but it still comes out with the same results

Tried the basic vanilla recipe but it didn't freeze after 40 minutes. It's in the freezer now about 50% frozen.

Elaine and Heather are driving their tractors as fast as they can in opposite directions. Now Elaine is driving a green, Jhon tractor at 36 mph. Her friend Heather is racing away from her on a red international tractor at 24 mph. How many hours will be before they are 30 meters apart?

You are just down the road from me in Mississauga, but I had to do my moderator duty and delete your address. It is too risky on an open forum.

I happen to be a trade chef :>) All ice cream recipes are pretty much alike, so they don't have to be model specific. It is a 1.5 quart, 3 pint machine.

How do you use a cuisinart frozen yogurt ice cream & sorbet maker

look on line; lots of manuals and recipes available. I'd say yours is one where you freeze the bowl over not and refrigerate the mix overnight too. You can buy the mix, but much more fun to make you own. I'd be borrowing a book from the library so you can experiment, but generally its make a 4 egg custard + 6 tblspn caster suger + 300 ml cream + flavour eg vanilla. I use powder custard + twice as much sugar to make custard and it works too! have fun

A friend gave me this ice cream maker and I was so excited but never made it before. All recipes say put in ice-cream maker and follow manufactures directions. I don't know what that is. I gather you...

There are some ready made mixes, but its just as easy to make your own. Lots and lots of recipes online. Most call for custard made with 4 eggs + 300 ml milk+ 6 tablesp castor sugar, 300 ml cream and plus flavour ( chocolate, vanilla, fruit etc.) added at the time, then cooled.Except for real vanilla, i use custard powder to make custard instead with twice as much sugar and it works well. I also tried 1 can apricot nectar + 300ml cream; yummy.Look for a few simple receipes, but if your bowl comes out it needs to be frozen for at least 24 hours and the mixture needs to be cold so it goes it in the fridge overnight too. Then you set it up and start mixing till you get a lot of air in the mix, it looks like a soft serve and has increased in volume, about 35- 40 minutes. you need the extra sweetness as being frozen, the sweetness is lost. Have fun !

Ice cream is soupy & when I freeze it it becomes icy

Freeze the bowl for at least 24 hrs, rather than the 12 hrs the manual suggests - it will make all the difference in the world. For really thick ice cream, freeze the bowl for a day, and then put the ingredients in the freezer until the outer rim becomes frozen. Very delicious!

I would actually let the freezer bowl thaw out on a level surface. Then place perfectly level back in the freezer for 24 hours. Should work again. Enjoy!

Cuisinart ice cream-frozen yougurt maker& sorbet maker CIM 60 series

I have the same problem, but it seems that it has gotten worse with time. When I first bought this product 6 years ago it worked fine, now the bowl won't freeze entirely and it has been in the freezer for two days (at the lowest freezer setting). I am wondering if the freezer bowl has a life span.

Tank won't freeze

The keys are to make sure the freezer is cold enough, and to make sure the bowl is level when it is sitting in the freezer. 24 hours is usually required, despite what manual says.

If all else fails, the freezer bowls are replaceable - you can order them from Cuisinart - if you are in-warranty, they may even be able to give it to you for free.

Freezer bowl not frozen!

Preparing the Freezer Bowl:
The freezer bowl must be completely frozen before you begin your recipe. The length of time needed to reach the frozen state depends on how cold your freezer is – for best results, place the bowl to the rear of your freezer where it is coldest. In general, freezing time is between 6 hours and 22 hours. To determine whether the bowl is completely frozen, shake it. If you do not hear liquid moving, the cooling liquid is frozen. For the most convenience, leave your freezer bowl in the freezer at all times so you can take it out any time for immediate use.

Features and Benefits:
  • Freezer Bowl – The double insulated freezer bowl contains a cooling liquid between the bowl walls to create fast and even freezing. In general, the required freezing time of the bowl is 6 to 22 hours before use. Additional freezer bowls are available separately for making double batches or different flavors without interruption. For additional information on preparing the freezer bowl for use, please see below.
  • Base and Motor Unit – The base contains a heavy-duty motor that is strong enough to handle everything from thick, rich ice creams to smooth frozen yogurts to slushy frozen drinks . The base unit features a generously sized on/off switch, rubber feet to prevent slipping and keep the unit stationary while in use as well as cord storage to keep counters neat and safe when the unit is not is use.
  • Lid with Ingredient Spout – The easy-lock, transparent lid secures to the base with a simple turn, allowing you to watch the freezing process as it progresses. An ingredient spout at the top of the lid is generously sized for pouring in ingredients and ideal for adding nuts, fresh fruit, candy pieces and more without interruption the freezing cycle.
  • Mixing Arm – The mixing arm mixes and aerates your frozen desserts and drinks, incorporating and blending all ingredients thoroughly.
  • Instruction/Recipe Book - The included instruction and recipe booklet helps you get started with over 30 recipes and variations for ice creams, sherbets, sorbets, frozen yogurts and frozen drinks.
