Check that the muffler isn't partially blocked. If not, may need a new diaphragm in the carb.

It sounds like a Mass Air Flow sensor or a Throttle Position sensor.BUT you will have to get a scan and find out what the check engine light is all about and related engine codes to attempt to fix this. This would be my first step. Good luck

Engine dies at idle. Engine sometimes sticks at 1500 rpm's. Engine always starts right up after engine dies. Maybe air regulator valve?

Pull air intake plentum off. Make sure that the throttle body butterfly is clean. If dirty you can get throttle body cleaner at Wal mart and local parts store. If the car does not have a throttle cable, it may be electronic working on a sensor. If so you have an electronic issue.

Saw starts then dies. Changed fuel ine soaked carb

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Was the carburetor disassembled when soaked and did you use compressed air to blow out all passages? If the carburetor jet screws have been moved, preset them as follows: Turn both H and L screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW each screw 1-1/2 turns. Start the engine and allow to warm up. Pull the throttle full on and adjust H CW until the engine speeds up somewhat but 4-stroking. Proper adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Allow to idle and adjust L CW until the engine runs fairly well, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

Trimmer dies when you apply throttle

Sounds like it might be getting to much gas. What position is the choke in during all of this? If you're giving it throttle it may be flooding itself out.

Engine starts but dies when I pull throttle trigger

you need to adjust the high speed needle turn it out in 1/4 increments as you throttle it, low speed may have to come out alittle but do high speed first. I had to answer this as I use to have a pastor john in sturgeon bay, miss him alot.

Lumina Starting/Dying Problem

this could be one of the two things that I am thinking it is either the throttle position sensor or it si the fuel pump getting too hot and cooling off slightly enough to restart the engine. Both are related but separate systems. The throttle position sensor is on the side of the throttle body and it merely tells the computer where the throttle plate is in the throttle body to create the proper fuel mixture for the injectors. The fule pump ios loccated insid eof the fuel tank it either runs or it doesnt usually. If it gets hot it is about to go completely out all together.
