You can turn your pilot up a little, but your main problem is with the gas. For some reason, your burning orange and not blue. Is this a propane unit or natural gas?

This is regarding my Rinnai gas heater Model 1260 S.When On button is pressed, it burns and glows the plate but when released , Gas stopped and it turns off.

problem is proberly the thermocouple burnt out .FSD
(fail safe device) normally you push the button in and the pilot light or flame is ignited, this flame heats the thermocouple that generates a small voltage that holds the gas valve open.
if the thermocouple is burnt out or not set correctly in the flame or the pilot flame is to small , as you say when you release the button it goes out, looks like you need a new thermocouple.

Older style Rinnai gas heater pilot light flame very large more yellow then blue..approx stays at 4inches even once burners are lit. Heater has 6 small burners and a brown cover.

not a problem. however, if you want to shrink it down... it's hard to say just what your gas valve is like. There should be 2 spots on it for adjustments, the larger slot (should be covered by a brass plug) adjusts the main burner output, the smaller adjusts pilot output. crank it down and watch the pilot shrink, but in this situation bigger is better. the pilot creates an electrical signal that opens the gas valve, you don't want that signal to be too weak.
It would be wise to clean the pilot supply, to have a cleaner flame. pressurized air does well with out having to remove it.

Yellow pilot flame

pilot is yellow cause its air mixture hole is blocked or you have something in pilot stem like a spider web i have had this problem on flame effect gas heaters during thier off months spiders get into pilot stem and create webs which can cause this the other reason is that the air mixture hole is blocked with carbon or something clean out to get blue flame, and an example of yellow flames in gas heaters is flame effect fires where i know a certain company cover air mixture hole on burner to get the flame more yellow and realistic looking but on a service i remove the foil they stick over hole making flames blue again, as it can cause the heater to carbon up to the extent of black glass with yellow flames

Pilot light wont stay on. How do you adjust pilot flame? Pilot flame doesn't reach temperature sensor.

then the pilot is blocked needs cleaning out or try blowing it out with air , or undone pilot and remove pilot injector and clean it .

We have a Rinnai 2000D heater. The pilot light goes out and is then difficult or impossible to restart. The igniter is working and there is the smell of gas, just doesnt seem to be enough gas there to...

you can try cleaning the pilot light with sand paper, (where the hole in the end is where the gas comes out) they get carbon built up over time and causes the hole to get smaller which makes the pilot light not want to stay light because of the small amount of gas coming out.

Why does the pilot light keep going out?

Make sure your pilot flame is hitting the thermocoupler. If not then use air to clean pilot port and try again.

NO HOT WATER N THE PILOT NOT LIGHTING UP

The thermocouple has gone bad.The thermocouple needs to be directly in the pilot flame. When the thermocouple goes out,the flame most of the time will have burned the thermocouple tip a way.If it was not for this devise, the gas would exscape, and fill the home up.This is a safety feature.

Too much flame on Rinnai Pilot light

On the end of the old pilot tubing there should be a small part. This "oriface" would have been inserted inside the pilot assembley in the same hole that the pilot tube screwed into. This small oriface has an extremley small hole in the end that reduces or restricts the gas pressure down to the low volume needed for a pilot flame. I bet that when you removed the old pilot tubing this oriface fell on the floor and rolled under the furnace. Find it, clean it and reinsert it. You will be fine. If you cannot locate it. You will need to buy a new pilot assembly. They come with a new oriface already installed.
Good luck..........

Pilot lights but when ignition pops back up the flame goes out

will either be the unitrol control box or the thermocouple, when you push down you are holding two magnets together and waiting for a small charge to be created from the probe in the flame , if this is not working you have no charge and the magnets won;t stick to allow the valve to open, change the thermo and see if that works first, its way cheaper than a new controler

Have an old Rinnai Gas Heater (approximately 30 years old) still working well, but we had to turn off the gas, and now cannot turn it on again. We have two buttons, one below the other, one is red and...

You are half-way right, to light the pilot, light it and push down the red button and hold it for at ----least2-minutes-- till the flame heats up the pin (thermocouple- which fire-thermocouple metal makes electricity which sends it to the gas valve and says ,OK GAS VALVE,I'VE GOT A PILOT FLAME SO OPEN UP THE MAIN GAS VALVE! See where I'm going with this?
