To make sure how many rams came with it, I suggest calling the manufacturer and give them the serial number.

Please visit Compaq's support site here.

Hope this helps!

My pavilion dv2000 will not boot up past start up screen. can i download a boot disk or recovery disk for this laptop

disconnect power first, remove the power cord from the PC,
open the pc...
look for the RAM slots....note how it has been installed...
remove all the ram cards....un-clip them from the slot....
(size will be aprox 1 inch/4 inch with..4 or 8 ICs in it).
RAMs will be 1 or 2 depending upon how many have been installed....
remove all rams....that r installed
press and hold power on button of PC for 3 - 4 this
put back the RAM cards...note...the card can be installed in one direction...only,,,,
now power on the pc....after connecting it back to power source...
it should be OK now...

Windows not installing

Sir please specify the Operating system which you want to install.

You can perform the following troubleshooting steps.

1) Your computer comes with a preinstalled operating system. The model also have recovery partition ( mostly in your D: drive) for installing Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium. You can use this recovery partition to install the operating system...

2) If you have created Recovery disks from the recovery partition then you can install the operating system from those disks.

3) If you have deleted the recovery partition and your recovery disks are damaged, then if your Notebook is under warranty , you can get recovery disks from HP with out any cost( FREE).

For more information contact HP 24X7 chat support.

For drivers you can visit the following HP link and select the operating system and download the drivers...

Hp dv5000 problem

ill suggest o you like many technician do when they messed around their workstation...
if that what you have done is similar to a desktop replacement of ram probably you just knocked out some of the components inside...

first thing check the specs of your old ram and compare it to your new ram... its not just buying the higher capacity but also considering the type of ram you are buying... you can't just put oddly different rams to replace the old one just because its has higher capacity... go to the store where you bought the new ram and show them your old ram for an assistance, hopefully the guy selling the ram knows what type of ram you really need (they should ask you that on the first place).

if the two rams you bought are similar to each other then you save your time going back to the shop where you bought the new ram... just open your system and make sure everything sets firm and if you can just the ram out and get a brush.... brush the dirt out of the connectors and use an eraser to your ram and erase the contact points...

if this helps just rate me to give thanks ok...
