Question about Coleman Propane Forced Air Heater w/Electronic Ignition (50,000-80,000 BTU)

2 Answers

Evcon furnace, 3 red flashes indicates that the "pressure switch open". Thermal stat is set to automatic and set to heat. It sounds like it is trying to start but then turns off then will sound like it is going to start again, when the thermal stat is turned to "on", cold air will blow with settings set to heat. Have turned off the furnace and turned back on but no luck.

I have 2 of these furnaces in my mobile homes. The booster assembly that has thea clear hose attached to it has a small wheel in it. Remove the 4 screws to this assembly and give the wheel a push. For some reason these tend to hang up after a few years. Freeing this wheel will allow the motor to engage. Simple solution to spending big bucks on unneeded parts :)

If the hose is blocked to the inducer motor housing, then the pressure wont drop enough to close the pressure switch. Remove the hose and check for holes or restrictions. If it is ok check the blower itself. I have seen the whole blower disentergrated from rust. and I have seen water puddle inside draft inducers from stopped up acoil drain pans. I have a video of how it woks on these particular furances. Knowing how it all goes down gives a better way to look at stuff. The way it works is the fan cons on and causes a suction in the proving /pressure switch, this allows the igniter to glow and when the sensor feels the heat or a timer counts down then the BOOM the gas valve opens and the sensor feels the heat and the gas valve opens giving raw gas to the burner and BOOYA houston we has ignition.

Coleman Evcon furnace blower runs w/ no call for heat. Temp is 5+ degrees above thermostat setting. (Programmable tstat)

When you say door are you referring to the front door or the furnace door? If the unit kicks on AND off by itself I would say it's in the tstat or the tstat wire. If it were internal I would think the blower relay or heat contactor/relay were getting stuck AND THE FAN WOULD NOT TURN OFF until you flipped the breaker. Good luck

Indicator blicks 3 times replaced combustion air switch but did not resolve problem. what do i do now?

There should be a diagnostic chart on the furnace door by the wiring schematic. If so see what the code reads for three blinks.
By the term "air combustion switch" I guess you are referring to the pressure switch. Most diagnostics blinking three times is just a dirty flame sensor. If this is the case the burners will light and go out within 4 seconds. If this is the problem carefully remove the flame sensor and clean gently with emery cloth, fine sandpaper or fine steel wool. Reinsert the sensor and enjoy your heat.

Furnace wont work

Have to know the model and serial of the furnace.
locate code list usually inside or on the back of a door.
Operation sequence= call for heat--inducer blower motor--makes pressure switch--signals board to bring on hsi--after a set time gas valve opens and you have ignition--main blower motor comes on after a set time

Coleman evcon furnace

Sounds like it isn't getting a call for heat. If you have a digital thermostat it could be the problem. I have seen them look like they are working but burn out. A simple way to check is take the stat off the wall. There is 2 wires. It's low voltage so don't worry about shock. Touch and hold them together. If it fires up change the t stat. On a . 2 wire it makes no difference which goes to W or R

If the unit fires but the main blower fan doesn't come on the the unit is shutting off on a temp high limit switch and it sounds like the problem is the main blower fan motor or control
