Hi Steve,
Take a look inside the freezer behind the food and shelves. On the back panel we are looking for frost. If there is frost back there we have a defrost problem that can be fixed reasonably.
If there is no frost build up then check if the fan in the freezer is running and you can feel air blowing out of the vents on top of the freezer. I know you said the fan was running but not sure if you can feel air flow or not.
If this is not running or running and not blowing then we can fix it for a reasonable cost.
If these are not the problem the most likely suspect is that we have either a refrigerant (freon) loss or a weak compressor. Either of these would cause this unit be beyond practical repair.
Let me know what you find in the freezer.
HI, JUST CHECKED FREEZER, TOP SHELF FAN IS BLOWING COLD BUT NOT FREEZING AIR,THERE IS FROST ON SECOND SHELF BACK,SLOW WATER LEAK ALSO COMING FROM BOTTOM OF FREEZER. MAKER IS MAGIC CHEF. THANKS, STEVE COULD IT BE TEMP CONTROL OR YODER LINE?
Does it seem to run all the time or more than it use to?
YES FREEZER APPEARS TO BE RUNNING ALL THE TIME, ALSO I DID NOTICE THE MULLION INSULATING LINE WAS NOTICABLY HOT BEFORE I LOST COOLING.
I think we need to take the panel off that is behind the shelves in the freezer, unplug the refrigerator prior to doing this.
I want to see what the frost pattern looks like on the coils this will tell me a lot.
Steve,
If the mullion was hot it indicates that the condenser (coils on the bottom) were very dirty or the condenser fan that cools those coils was not running. Either of these situations could damage the compressor.
O K I'LL TRY THAT, I WON'T BE ABLE TO DO IT UNTIL THURSDAY MORNING,I'LL GET BACK TO YOU THEN WITH RESULTS,THANKS FOR YOUR HELP PHIL, STEVE
Sounds good, take care
