Question about Hannspree HannsG HG281DP 28" LCD Monitor

Open Question

Monitor flickers and sometimes spontaneously turns ''off''

I am having the same problem as djpyro_lyric and the issue is very difficult to search due to its lengthy descriptive nature. I have ''snow'' in the form of white dots, forming vertical lines, about an inch apart. I also get the ''blotchy'' flickering effect with colorful rectangles and squares. Sometimes the monitor just goes ''off'' (black completely, no inverter glow, yet the blue indicator light is still on as if it is receiving signal properly).

SOURCE: monitor won't stay on

Hey. This problem is caused by the Backlight bulb(s) blowing up.
This is fixable. You have to get into the monitor and remove the LCD screen to see what bulb you need. This is a moderately difficult job and fragile parts will easily get broken.

However by all means have a go but this is the problem that you guys have been experiencing

First, flip the switch for your power surge protector, to see if that resolves. Then, test the monitor on another computer and see if it works. If the monitor still doesn't work, look for another one. Hope that helps.

Open it up and look at the capacitors. The round "tin can" looking components. If the tops appear bulged, then replacing them may help. Check out the YouTube video... and web site...

My laptop emachine g720 screen flickering

Laptop computers have LCD displays that are sensitive to many things. LCD displays have faults that sometimes produce a flickering screen, lines, dots or a faint display. These screens are sensitive to magnetic fields or electronic items near the computer. Speakers, cell phones, lights and other electrical items are examples. Your display also could be flickering due to software issues such as the video drivers or hardware issues relating to the inverter going bad or the LCD screen itself needing to be replaced. Trace the cause of your problem to come to a resolution.

1.Turn off the computer. Disconnect all external devices. Turn the computer over (bottom facing up). Take out the battery and reseat it. Turn the computer on.
2.Reset your resolution and refresh rate.
Windows XP:
Right click an open area on your desktop. Click "Properties" in the drop-down menu.
Click the "Advanced" button at the bottom of settings tab. Another dialog box appears. Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the Refresh rate to your default, or 60 hertz. Click "OK."
Windows Vista:
Click "Start, Control Panel." Find and click "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Adjust Screen Resolution." Change resolution to the default, or 800 x 600. Click "Advanced Settings." Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the refresh rate to the default, or 60 hertz. Click "OK."
Windows 7:
Click "Start, Control Panel." Find and click "Display" Click "Change display settings" on the left side. Change screen resolution to 800 x 600. Click "Advanced Settings" in the lower right. Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the refresh rate to 60 hertz. Click "OK."
3.Check the computer's surroundings. Move away any speakers, fluorescent lights, fans, cell phones, radios and any other electrical device that can cause flickering. Temporarily move electrical items away from the computer to see if they are producing this issue.
If the flicker stops, put back one item at a time to determine what is causing the problem.
4.Connect an external monitor to your laptop computer to see if that screen is also flickering. If there is no flicker, then the problem is strictly with the laptop, indicating a possible hardware failure. Contact the manufacturer for a replacement LCD.
If the flicker continues, go to next step.
5.Reset/Update your video driver. Click "Start" and right-click "My Computer." Click "Properties." The "System Properties" dialog box will appear.
6.Click "Device Manager." A list of items will appear. Click the (+) sign next to "Display Adapters."
7.Right-click the video adapter and click "Uninstall." Confirm removal. Restart the computer. The video driver will automatically reinstall itself.
8.Check to see if the flicker still exists. If so, go to the manufacturer's website. Download and install the newest video driver and BIOS for the computer.
9.Restart computer once drivers are installed. Continue to the next step if there is still flickering.
10.Open up your display screen all the way. If the flicker stops by opening it a certain distance, it is the display inverter. If the flicker still exists, the LCD screen should be replaced.
11.Contact the manufacturer of the computer for more information and a possible replacement inverter and LCD display. This will depend on the manufacturer and the computer itself.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.com

Welcome to Fixya Support,
I am happy to assist you.

Monitor Flickering May due to following Reason
1. Deffective LOT
2. Deffictive Filter IC or Deffective horizontal IC

To fix this issue, you have to check LOT, if LOT working fine, you have to search for burn out capacitor along with filter IC and replace with new one. After this your monitor must work properly, without any flickering.

nfleurat, If nothing wrong with the "on"/"off" switch, then must be the "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter supply" circuit card inside of unit. Look for a possible "thermally intermittant solder connection" and then resolder it. Also, inspect unit for possible "swollen" electrolytic filter capacitors on power supply board. I had that same problem with my 17 inches LCD monitor. The problem why it
does that is due to the video card having trouble to catch up with the LCD
monitor. I set the mhz on the video card to 75 hertz and the problem went
away. set your LCD monitor at 1280 x 1024 and you won't see the flickering.

Sometimes, It is the video card that is causing the problem or interference from
magnetic waves in the house.

Thanks for using Fixya.
