Question about HP Compaq nc6000 Notebook

1 Answer

Battery Problem? I have a compaq nc6000 laptap that is about 4 years old. It's plugged into a wall outlet most of the time because the charge is only good for about 15 minutes. Now I'm having trouble turning the laptap on and when I am able to start it,it freezes when I pick it up or move it around .I assume that a new battery will fix this problem?

HI,
Compaqs rely on a decent battery.
You could try removing the battery and see if it boots at all.
If it does,nt this will answer your question.

Suggest e-bay for a replacement, the chinese sellers offer great items for replacement, usually cheaper than U/K sellers. shipped and received within 10-14 Days.

Regards mike @ compurepair.

HP Compaq 610 Not Charging

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.
Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

HP Compaq NC8430: Laptop does not want to charge battery

Take the battery out, plug in the charger and see if the laptop works. If it works, the battery may be the problem. Check the AC Adapter
Check to make sure the adapter is plugged securely into the wall outlet, connected firmly to the adapter box and to the back of your laptop. Most AC adapters have a little light in them on that rectangular box in the middle of the cord that lights up when it's getting electricity. If that light isn't on, try a different outlet. Check your fuse or circuit breaker box and plug a different device into that outlet to make sure there is power to it. If it still does not light up, your adapter could need replacing. Also check the adapter box for signs of warmth, as it will generate heat when it's plugged in. No heat means no power.

Remove the Battery Sometimes it's as simple as a seated battery. Remove the battery entirely and clean out any dust, lint or hair that may be clogging the connectors and preventing a proper connection. Reseat the battery securely and make sure the little locking pins that hold your battery in place are securely fastened and there is no movement.

My compaq nc6000 did not start up. The proplem happen when I shut down for 4 days. anyone help!

Leaving a computer switched off for any length of time shouldn't matter. I have had laptops that have not been powered up for 5 years and they power up without a problem once the battery has charged and the BIOS backup cell is replaced.

I would suggest that if you were to press F8 when it is booting up, just at the point when the BIOS menu closes and choose Safe Mode,. Get it to boot from there and it may recover itself. If it doesn't do the same action but choose Recover as an option and follow the prompts.
I hope that helps.

Hi,My HP Compaq nc6000 just developed a problem of not coming on. I have checked the battery and its okay. I have blown its internal parts and it remained off. It only indicates the orange light for some...

try taking the battery out completely and see if the laptop runs of the main power from the outlet, if so then the battery may have a bad cell in it and would need to be replaced.

Primary Batteries
6-cell Lithium-Ion (4.4Ah) – standard
8-cell Lithium-Ion (4.4Ah) – optional

Power SupplyExternal 65 watt AC adapter

from looks of it the battery has gone bad

Laptap problem

hi there,

The problem here was the battery becoming partly dislodged - even though the machine is running from the mains when in the office it can still happen. All to do is to remove and reinsert the battery - problem cured. Only happens every so often but can be annoying.

cpu is getting over heated because the fan cooling it is slow or not working well or stopped . go into setup , see the cpu temperature, and fan speed , if normal , neglect the above cause.

change ram , use any other working ram .

battery may not be fully charged , or old battery.
battery faulty (current leakage or less working voltage or less current storage capacity,
use mains supply , if lap top is ok on mains supply then charging section or battery is faulty.
