Can you get a replacement for the vent fan cover? the plastic has broken in several places and it has fallen off

Well you could try SEARS to see if they can help, ( if you own a bank)
or as no one said it has to match the model you could buy a car fan ( type that fits into the cig lighter) and remove the front cover from it and place over the M/Wave fan region to give the blades some protection. This approach is a few dollars rather than a truckload.

Your local auto shop would be able to supply one of these for about $10.
+ $2 for some sellys glue to hold it in place.

Broken vent door/flap


Go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model of microwave, refine search to vent flap you might get lucky, if no luck, have a handyman come in and fashion a part.

Fan and light buttons pushed in, how do i install new buttons.


I just fixed mine. Same problem.

  1. remove the top vent (like replacing filter) w/ 2 or 3 screws on the top of the unit
  2. Remove the one screw on the top of the clock/control unit.
  3. Remove the clock/control panel by sliding up then out
  4. See circuit board at the bottom for the 3 switches. Hopefully it just popped out of place.
  5. pop it back into place and re-assemble
  6. if it's broken, you'll have to find the replacement part here: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/
  7. If the actual buttons (black plastic) are broken, you have to replace the whole plastic housing for the electronics. Probably a big project and/or you'd replace the whole bit for hundreds of dollars, but even still, it's a pop-out, pop-in.

Sharp 1470 over-the-range microwave - no power on panel


Did you unplug any wires when you took it apart?

Otherwise, I would think one or more of the connectors got unplugged when you removed the control panel.

Another thing that can happen on these models is a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under thebottom edge of the switch. It's usually the top door switch.

Be sure the oven is unplugged.

There are two Phillips head screws on the very top of the outside of the cabinet above the vent.

When they're removed the vent grille just snaps out.

Microwave handle replacement


How to replace handle on GE Advantium SCA1001DSS.

Remove two screws on top at front in order to remove plastic front vent grill. Then the door lifts off pin hinges. Lay door flat on surface. Plastic trim snaps off with gentle prying (start at bottom middle and bottom hinge side). Then remove six screws holding notched metal section with door latch. This piece will also snap out (several visible clips holding it around edges). Then remove door handle screws, Replace handle and reverse process to put back together.

This is the waveguide cover and it should not be broken. You have to replace it.

Glass Surface Light Lens Cracks from Halogen lights use


The lights do get very hot, so they must be a sufficient distance from the lens. Was there an instruction sheet with the new lens? You may need to adjust the sockets upward. You might call a local GE-authorized servicer to see. Concerning the vent fan, this is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $39.95. Front vent fell off


This should be a very easy fix. I assume you are talking about the plastic vent grill on the top of the oven above the door. There should only be a couple of screws holding it in from the top. The grill then should tilt out from the top first then from the bottom to remove. Since you said that it had fallen off, it sounds like the tabs where the screw holes are have broken off. This is a common problem. You can buy the part by ordering from the manufacturer, or from most repair websites. All you need is the model number from the microwave. Good luck.
