Open Question

Our fan's light went out. We were able to change the halogen bulb to a new one but the light still doesn't work (the fan works). Ideas?

I found that the minka website has the installation manuals online.
www.minkagroup.net/http://www.minkagroup.net/minkaairemanuals.asp The glass cover on a Concept I fans turns counterclockwise. I had to use rubber gloves to get a good grip on the light cover.

My Minka Aire remote is not working. When I use the remote nothing happens. When I turn on the switch using light switch nothing happens. I had it installed two years ago. Battery never replaced.

The glass dome is tightened firmly in the factory, so removal is difficult. When removal is attempted to, the metal housing to which the dome is attached will spin with it, making removal impossible. To see what I'm talking about, look in the small space between the dome and the bottom of the blade housing - it looks like a metal flange, but this is only the bottom of the reflective metal canister that holds the light. Note that there are 4 "dimples" around the circumference of this housing, facing inward. These dimples are what hold the glass dome in place. The trick is to use a rigid piece of wood or metal about the size of a 12" ruler and place the corner of that ruler in one of those dimples - FIRMLY. Then, a second person can get some leverage on the glass dome and "unscrew" it from the housing (counter-clockwise). The purpose of holding the ruler-sized material against the dimple is to keep the housing from spinning with the dome. This is easier said than done, but it will work.

Hampton Bay Mercer ceiling fan keeps buring out bulbs

Halogen bulbs are a lot hotter than other bulbs and have a much shorter life span. It is the nature of the bulb. You can see about changing just the lighting fixture on the fan or look into getting an LED bulb, they run very cool compared to halogen and last forever.

Problem changing halogen bulbs on perla rangehood

The more I worked with it, the more I discovered that the real problem was that a screw was not all the way screwed in and it was preventing the panel from sliding. Another problem I may have is finding the glass covered halogen bulb.

Night Light on Microwave Oven

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Details of our service and critical safety information and disassembly information is at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

Me too. I went back to Home Depot. They gave to me the phone number for Hampton Bay - 1-877-527-0313. I will call them tomorrow after they open to see what the deal is. it looks to me like the JDE11 is a mini-candelabra base. The lady in the fans at Home Depot said that all of the light kits were changing to the smaller based halogen lights. BUT, you'd think that they'd carry the light bulbs that have to go in the light kits they sell!!!

Glass Surface Light Lens Cracks from Halogen lights use

The lights do get very hot, so they must be a sufficient distance from the lens. Was there an instruction sheet with the new lens? You may need to adjust the sockets upward. You might call a local GE-authorized servicer to see. Concerning the vent fan, this is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $39.95.
