Just taking a wild guess here, but;

1. is the wireless adapter plugged into the usb port, not the ethernet port.

2. Is there the possibility that the adapter is broken?

I have an ac adapter for the new xox 360 250 gb , that has the red light lighted up that means false alarm what should i do to get it back to green its been 1 week?

Check the status light on your adapter The state of the adapter's status light indicator can tell you the status of the Xbox 360 Wireless G Networking Adapter. Here's what the different lights mean:
  • Steady green light: The adapter is connected to a wireless router, gateway, or access point. The adapter is ready to use.

  • Steady red light: The adapter is ready to be configured. For information on how to do this, please see: 908877 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908877/ ) How to configure wireless settings on your Xbox 360 console
  • Flashing red light: There is a problem. The adapter might be experiencing a hardware failure. Contact Xbox support.
  • Not illuminated: The adapter is not receiving power. Unplug the USB connector and plug it in again. Still no light? Try plugging the adapter into a USB port on the front of the console.

  1. On the console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Configure Network.
  4. On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Mode.

Note If wireless mode is not available and you are using the black Wireless N Networking Adapter, try using the software installation disc included with the adapter. For more information about how to do this, please see the following article:
977641 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977641/ ) How to set up the Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter
  5. Select Scan for Networks.
  6. Select your wireless network name.

If your network is not listed, try the following:
    1. Select Specify Unlisted Network, and enter your wireless network name (also referred to as your Service Set Identifier [SSID]).
    2. Select your wireless security: WEP, WPA, WPA2, or No Security (if your network doesn't have a password).

If you can't connect to your wireless network, try improving your wireless signal using the tips in the following article:
      909336 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909336/ ) Your Xbox 360 console receives a weak wireless signal

  7. Enter your wireless network password, and then select Done.

Note Make sure that you have entered the correct password. An incorrect password might allow your console to connect to your wireless network, but you might receive an IP address error when you test your Xbox LIVE connection.
  8. Press B on your controller, and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

If you successfully connect to Xbox LIVE, you'll see this screen:

When my Xbox 360 is off, the light on the AC Adapter is orange, but when I hit the power button to turn the Xbox 360 on, the light on the AC Adapter turned red.

HI you did not mention is you are able to use the unit even tho the led turns red. If not then the unit is drawing to much current and the power supply is shutting down. Or the power supply is faulty, If you can and know someone with a 360 system try to borrow theirs and see which part of the system is faulty if you know his is good and the same thing happens, or take yours to his house and try, but if same results then the 360 is at fault.

The wireless adapter on my xbox 360 will not turn on. when the device is plugged into the console the status light will flick red for a second and then turn off instead of staying on like it should under...

this happens to me with my adapter but I happen to get it to work by leaving it plugged in and leaving the xbox on.or i restart the xbox over and over. Mine seemes to have like a charge time so keep restarting and plugging the adapter in other ports.. It should after a while turn on. if not try another adapter because it may not be the adapter that's causing the problem. Your console may have bad ports.

My adapter light is a solid red. When I plug in an ethernet cord, that'll connect.. but when I take the ethernet cable out, the 360 always reports Disconnected under Network Adapter even though the wireless adapter is plugged in.

My xbox wireless adapter

You may need to foward ports and allow the router to talk to your xbox 360. I do not know the ports of the top of my head but when u get the error from your xbox 360 that it cant connect look into where it says ways to solve the problem. It should tell you the ports. Personaly I am wired and its way better. No lag and no problems.

Hope this helps
