Start and stop the print spooler Windows XP To start and stop the print spooleropen Computer Management, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. In the console tree, click Component Services. Under Console Root click Services (Local) In the details pane, double-click Print Spooler.Do one of the following depending on the task you want todo: Click Stop to stop the service. Click Start to start the service. When you try to install a printer and get an error message "PrintSpooler is not running" then Print Spooler need to be configured. Open Print Spooler as detailed above and click on the Generaltab then select these items - Startup type select AutomaticService status click StartThen click OK
This sounds like a software problem (in other words, your printer is not the issue). Here's what I suggest:
1) Save whatever you were attempting to print, and restart the computer. Try printing it again. 2) If it doesn't work, try uninstalling the software for your printer, and then re-install it. In the event you don't have the software handy, you can download the driver from this website:
From what you're saying the windows print spooler service is not starting following the installation of your printer (and thereby you cannot print i'm assuming)
try the following to start the print spooler service if it is not already running.
Right Click My Computer
Click "Services and Applications"
Scroll down to "Print Spooler" and double click on it to open up the properties page
where it says "startup type" select automatic from the combo box list
If the service is NOT running, start it by clicking "start"
The print spooler service is started now, and **should** work properly. If the spooler is still not starting properly, then you may have a driver issue and i reccommend uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for your printer.
hi! Print Spooler is actually a service for your Operating system- Try this
Click on start and click on run in the open box type in services.msc and your services local window should open, scroll down and look for print spooler, highlight it and do a right click and on the dropdown menu left click on stop and it will go to a process of stopping the service and then right click back and click on start. if you get an error message about print spooling or spooler, then that means you have a problem with the operating system. call or go to microsoft help and support online in that case. and RPC server unavailable error has something to do with a network printer. but i believe you setup the printer locally.
