Sounds like your TCON (Timing Control) board on the LCD panel has failed. This part is sometimes available separate from the LCD panel, but sometimes not. If you provide the make, model (or Service model) and any version number (if it has one), I may be able to provide a part number to you.

Panasonic... sorry, I think you will need the entire LCD panel for this repair. I don't know of any Panasonic LCD TVs that have separate TCON boards available. If you could, a picture would do nicely... always a good idea to see what the defect looks like.

Give me a email and I will send pics of the screen, and inside boards,The owner also said the line you see in pic was there from the day he purchased it, but very faintly and got worse as tV aged. ,,,After I told him it might very well be the LCD screen,Why he with held that info I dont know,,

email: milkburp@cvzoom.net Also, I looked up the LCD panel for that TV. Cost is almost $1,900.00, not the most economical part for replacement. After you send the photos, I'll get back to you with my opinion.

1. Your TV needs service. It has a power supply issue and a vertical sync issue. This will need a schematic and a tech with a scope to pinpoint the defective components in said circuits.

    panasonic LCD flat TC-26lx20 model

    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    O.k

    I`d have another question;

    Do you have normal sound?

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Dont know if its normal because I dont have it hooked to cable right now,but it has the sound as if its not on a channel like a snowy pic would. And the snowy pic came on more than black when I tured the sound up,but still has the line down middle of screen.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

okay I turned it up all the way and it got louder ,Iguess you could say thats normal.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

Can you get the sound if you hook up the cable?

And does it affect the picture?

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

Also do you get the menu?

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

I do not have the remote as I took this for repair and forgot to get the remote,,,But,When I manually swith channels the numers lite up on screen and switch from vidio to tv The word JUST and DVD lite up on scree, so I think the menue would come up if I had the remote. I looked and there is no manual way or button to bring up menu

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

O.k but you did`nt say i you had some way of connecting either the cable tv or dvd to see what kind of picture you may have.

Also if the screen gets affected by the sound level then i would tend to go for a faulty power supply board.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Okay I hooked up cable and than a rabbit ears after for local channels and all it did is get a salt n peper snowy and the line down the middle still there.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

Well the snowy picture could be bad reception with the rabbit ears.

But what about the sound : does it still affects the picture?

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

No the sound only did that before because I hit vidio by accident and the screen was black with the line and when I switched it back it was snowy and when I put cable ,and than local antena it brightened up both times and volume was ajustable either way.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    O.k then;

What you have is either a bad lcd controller(t-con) or the lcd panel itself is faulty.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Okay is there a way I can be sure of either? Like a test of some kind?

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

The only test is to replace the lcd controller board , also called t-con.

That board is located in the upper center at the back of the lcd panel and it has a metal shield covering it.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

I`d say that 75% of the time it will be the problem.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Do you the cost of the board and a good site to purchase one?

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

The cost usually goes around 70 to 80$.

I can take a look to see what i can find ,but you may have to take it off to give me the numbers written on it.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    O.k i found something here;

    http://www.discount-merchant.com/PANASON...

In your tv they call it the logic board.

But you`ll still have to look at the one you have now to make sure it has the same part number.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Well I got the back off and everyboard in there has a TNP start to every board number. Can I send ya a pic of the inside of this tv and help locate the right board,,,As it looks none of them match the one on the site.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    o.k you can send me the picture(s) at ;

    marinjacques@hotmail.com

Try to get a general view then the different sections.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

The pics are on the way, I also gave the number on the center board. Let me know if you need more.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    I got the pictures.

I`m gonna have to study them and do some research on it.

Could i get back to you tomorrow evening and what would be a good time?

My time here is 11:20 EST

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    O.k sonny

    Talk to you then

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Okay Im here , Did ya find anything else out about the board?

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    Hi again sonny

    Was looking at your pictures and ;

I can`t see the board that we were talking about,

so that means that it hidden underneath the frame that hold those boards.

But in any case it might be irrelevant at this point because: after looking at those pictures i believe now that your lcd panel is the problem.

What i can do is take those pictures and ask a friend of mine who is an ASC for panasonic and ask his opinion on this.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Okay,LCD panel do you mean the actual screen? And what do you see that leads you to that problem? If you need any close up pics of any area I can send the.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

Yes that would be the screen itself.

The reason i`m saying this is because the splatter coming down is not straight or linear like it usually is with a t-con or logic board problem.

But then again there is a first for everything , so i`d like a second opinion on this.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Okay how long should it take to hear back form your friend? ah should we make another time to meet back on here? and if you find anything sooner just email me and we can get back here.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    It should`nt take too long.

Tomorrow or friday at the most.

So i`d rather make sure before i tell you to replace parts.

Either way you`ll receive an email when i have more info.

By the way: yes i`m in canada, just across the river from ottawa.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 12, 2010

Okay sounds good to me,I have cousins in Hamilton not to far from me.I will wait to hear from you.

thanks for your help so far!

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 12, 2010

    O.k talk to you soon.

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 14, 2010

    Hi again sonny

As i said i took those pictures to a friend who is an ASC for panasonic and he thinks also that the problem is with the display panel itself.

Apparently panasonic has issued service bulletins with similar pictures about bad lcd panels.

  • Yanick Martin
    Yanick Martin May 14, 2010

okay what can be done with the lcd panel? can it be replace?

  • Jacques Marin
    Jacques Marin May 14, 2010

Yes it can be replaced but it may prove to be too expensive for a 26" tv

Your talking about 250$ for the panel and most of the time the tv`s eeprom will need to be reconfigured in the service menu/mode.

When I turn on my tv all that comes on is three 6"blue lines no picture is my tv toast

Hi:
If these lines are at least 2 inches wide then the problem is the display driver boards or some call them the Buffers boards, if the lines are less then 2in in wide and are very thin lines then the PDP is bad (Screen).

I have a red line in the same notebook, dell insp 1501

It's a faulty screen.
Here is how to remove old screen.
Then order new screen by DELL PART NUMBER (green), which is on the back of the screen and looks something like that:
ce481f5.jpg

If you will replace screen with any other (not with dell part number), then you risking, that screen will be dark and adjustment of brightness will not work.

JVC TV 27" Black line on top of screen

This is for the original problem.. Not the second post.

It's a problem in the horizontal deflection circuit. The parts will be available, but you will be in for some daignostic repairs also to find out why it failing or if it has failed on it's own.
There should be a few caps near the IC (an LA7840) that could also be causing the problem. Click the link, it will make it easier to locate the part inside.

This is the kind of repair best left to a TV tech, but get it done now and it won't cost anywhere near as much as it will later.
