The diverter valve for Grohe shower wand doesn't engage

When I lift the diverter valve for my Grohe shower wand, to divert water from the faucet to the wand, it doesn't engage all the time. If I put a little side pressure on the valve when I lift it, it will work some of the time. I can't figure out how to get the valve handle off to see what is slipping. Any recommendations? thank you

SOURCE: Grohe shower assembly leaking

hiit sounds as though the diverter valve is sticking in the mid position although you have turned it to the floor spout as you call it!!
Also it sounds as though the seals are possibly leaking causing the plasterboard (drywall) to get we, or possibly a joint may be leaking. Advice access the pip-work valve etc run shower & check with torch (flashlight) to see where its coming from?
Rectification work replace seals/repair leak...replace diverter valve assembly.

Have you tried simply cleaning out the aerator?

Unscrew the aerator from the bottom of the faucet and clean out all of the debris on the screen and inside the fitting, then replace.

My tub faucet keeps leaking when the shower head is engaged. How do I fix it?

Depends on where the diverter valve is on the tub. If you pull up on a knob on the water spout for the tub, then it's not likely the leak will ever stop completely. If the diverter valve is in the wall then a repair kit can be had at any home improvement store.

Moen shower valves are failing

the diverter is stuck. you have to move it up and down to free it up. the diverter is the mechanism attached to the tub spout that switches the water from shower to tub. you may also need a new diverter if fiddling with it doesn't work.

    Shower diverter problem

It is very possible that a piece of rubber from the old washer or some debris has found its way into the shower diverter or the showerhead. The first thing to try, is to take off the showerhead and see if you get water without it. If you get water then your problem is solved!!! Puchase a new showerhead or take apart the old one and soak it in CLR or Lime-Away to clean it. If that doesn't do the trick than, Turn off your water supply to hot and cold. Remove the diverter (if possible) and inspect for debris. If you want you can also take out the hot and cold stems for a total inspection of the inside of the faucet. You can then flush out the inside of the faucet cavity with a Turkey Baster or something to that effect. Put it all back together ( use a bit of vasaline on all the rubber washers so they do not get stressed when re-installing) and you should be able to take a shower.....Also, if it was a cartridge you replaced, you may have inserted it 180 degrees opposite......Hope this helps.....Joe
