Unlike other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer laptop to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer laptop to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

Hello,

To restore to factory setting, power up the laptop, when you see the logo, press both Alt and F10 key, it will initiate the recovery program. Follow the instruction on screen to restore to factory setting.

I WOULD LIKE TO RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS TY

You will loose all data you have put on the computer. When you turn it on right at the beginning there is a black screen and there are a few f key options.
They will flash up with the option when you turned it on, before windows kicks in. Take a look at the user manual to find out for sure.
Press the correct f key before windows starts up, then go through the menus in setup (it will look all crappy and dos like) and find restore factory settings (or something like that) and click yes.
It's a great feature, and will completely kill any virus or **** problems you have had and couldn't get rid of.
Hope this helps. I would appreciate your feed back as I do this for fun not pay.

Need recovery discs and system drivers

Acer laptops have a hidden partition on the internal hard disk drive which allows restoration of the operating system, applications and drivers to their factory default. Restoration is done by Acer eRecovery Management which can be accessed either through the operating system (if it is still operable) or on powering up by pressing Alt and F10 keys together while the Acer logo is showing.

My acer aspire 5536 turns on and starts to boot up but error comes up operating system not found. any ideas. tried f8 laptop did not come with boot disc

Oh dear! You need a boot disk to get to your stuff or another pc to interrigate the faulty hard drive and get your data off.
I would say that you have a hard drive error to contend with.

I have a loptop of Acer Aspire5520.I have to formate now but i lost my system backup & restore disk. How can i get this backup.Pls let me know.

Normally , acer laptops have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive , which contains all of the recovery data so you dont need the recovery discs.

When you boot up your computer and you get the Acer logo etc , try pressing keys to start the recovery - this puts everything back to factory default settings and erases your data.

Also , A program ships with the laptop called 'Acer Empowering Technology - eRecovery' which allows you to burn your own recovery disc - You then use this disc to perform a complete system restore.

I want to restore factory settings on my laptop

You could try a system restore to the day before the changes, go to accesories, system tools, system restore. The programmes should be there again but may not work correctly it's a fingers crossed job. The only other way to restore is if you have a restore partition on your hardrive or a restore disc, but normally there would be a programme built in to restore the notebook to factory settings.

Acer will not open any programs

your pc should check the system files on boot up and will keep asking until you allow it to do so. If it doesn't run through a system check and just stays at 0% then there is a serious fault either with the operating system or your hard drive is failing. You will need to repair windows with your installation disc as if you cannot get into windows you will need to restore your system. I am assuming when you say you cannot open up programmes, you mean you cannot get to your desktop.
