Question about Brother SE-270D Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

I was sewing and all of a sudden it started to slow down and stopped. Have tried to sew again and sounds like it is jammed. I have taken machine apart and there is nothing visible that can be in the way. The needle did not break and there was no jam when it stopped. The knob will move some in both directions but will not make a complete turn.

Hello,
Please try removing the bobbin case and then move the wheel. It is very likely that the bobbin case came out of place and causing the machine to lock up.
Thanks,
Pat

Could be threaded wrong - check manual for proper threading
Needle could be bent - check and replace if needed
Needle plate could be damaged - see if any burrs are on it if so take to service dealer and have removed
Bobbin could be wound wrong - check manual
Bobbin could be bent - if so replace.

How can I fix a jammed, squeaky hand wheel?

This sounds like a bushing in your serger or the upper looper shaft heats up with use. This the swells the metal and seizes the machine. This is always hard to fix right because there are many points on the serger that need regular lube and can heat up. it is an eliminate 1 joint at a time and try agein

rethread the machine the top thread & bobbin, if possible use a different spool of thread for top & bobbin

If the machine has sat for a long time it probably needs servicing. oil has a tendacy to break down and turn to varnish gluing everything together. a simple service should fix it, you can ship the machine to me and i can fix this problem. keithat11@aol.com

My singer touch & sew suddenly didn't stop

There might be something jamming the petal open so it won't slow or stop when you put your foot on it.. I would try that, get some canned air and blow it out and see if it helps.

Machine slows down, stops, starts again. Foot control problem?

Yes it does sound like a faulty foot control. The power cord is probably fine, you just need the controller. Ebay is a good source for parts.
