If it has nothing else at all installed in it, then yes it is. The long beep tells you something is not right in boot sequences.

Dell loud fan noise

Is the computer completing post? This is indicated normally by a single beep after the power button is turned on. On most computers the beep is proceeded by a post screen with the manufactures logo. If the computer is not getting this far, unplug everything but the memory and video. This should cause the computer to give a no hard drive or OS error. If not pull all the memory, this should cause the computer to give a series of beeps (because there is no memory installed). If this does not work either, you could have a bad mother board or power supply.

Hope this helps

I HAVE INTEL DG31GL MOTBOARD I HAVE ONE PROBLEAM IN MOTBOARD IS NO DIPLAY ONE SINGNAL LIGHT IS GLOW

Hell Krishna,

The display problem is common in all the Intel DG31GL motherboard. Please switch off the computer first. Then remove the Li-ion cell/ battery of the mother board. Replace it with new Li-ion cell/ battery. Also remove the ram of the motherboard. Insert the cell/battery in the motherboard and switch on the computer without installing the ram. After 2 to 3 beeps switch off the computer and install the ram and then switch on the computer. The display will come again.

My mother board is not giving any beep sound. When i power on the PC system looking working bt no display. I chk processor nd RAM bt they r working on another board.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

When I turn on my packard bell ixtreme 6052 nothing appears yet it does see computer but does not even go to bios and harddrive read light remains on and harddrive is constantly ticking like it's...

This could be lots of things (bad HD, bad Mother board, bad RAM,etc...) first you need to narrow down the possible cause, open the computer, take out every thing that can be unplugged (I MEAN EVERYTHING) RAM, PCI cards, VIDEO cards, all storages HD, CD ROM, etc... just leave the CPU and power supply plugged in, than power up the computer and listen for BEEP's if you hear a series of BEEP's this means the CPU, power supply and mother board are GOOD, than (with power OFF each time) re-install the components you taken out (ONE at a time) to see which device causes the system crash... I've seen a modem card causing a system mall function once rediculous but true...

Good luck!

No Dispay, No Beep

Try leaving it off but with power to it (should see a small green LED on Mobo) for about 30 minutes or more.

After this time try starting it with RAM installed of course!

If this doesn't work your Motherboard is dead.

Intel 845 chipset mother board no reaction - expecting solution

Hi,
this is normal No-Ram. No-Beep.
The ram is all part of the bios analysis beep codes.
install memory, and setup the board to the manufacturers specification.
1 beep at post is normal on many bioses.
