Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I have a Vivitar ViviCam T328 and it won't take

Check the battery, and make sure it's charged, and good. Next, make sure the battery contacts on the battery and inside the camera are clean (you can use a qtip and alcohol). The next thing to suspect is a broken switch, but that usually only happens after awhile. Here is a good web blog about your problem, and it has some things you can try:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

You can't fix it. The camera is so cheap, it doesn't have a built-in microphone....so, silent movies.

How do I use a "card reader". it came with my vivitar camera and with no instructions

The card reader connects to a computer, usually through a USB or FireWire connection. You can then insert the memory card from your camera into the card reader and the computer will see the card as a disk drive, allowing you to copy pictures from the card to your computer.
