Question about Intel Motherboard
First, I would try to return the battery and adapter, call your credit card company.
If anything, you would have a problem with the AC adapter and not both. If the battery was dead, the AC would still work. So at most, you should have just purchased an AC unit. However, because there was a green light, you were still getting power.
Take out the Hard drive and any removable hardware just to make sure they are not causing a short in the system.
If you do not see any display lights on your notebook when it is plugged in, then you have a problem with the Main Board. The whole unit will need to be taken apart and replaced with a new board. Main Boards usually run at a minimum of $180.00 on exchange plus labor.
My suggestion is to contact dell and ask them what it would cost for a repair or an upgrade. If you send the unit in, take out the Hard Drive to keep your data.
Please respond if you have more questions.
