Compaq C751NR need windows xp - conexant HD audio smart audio 221 driver

I recently purchased a Compaq C751NR. It came loaded with Vista. I want to install XP pro on it. I am having problems finding driver . The device is Conexant HD audio smart audio 221. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

- I have just bought a Compaq Presario C751NR and I would like to downgrade from Windows vista to Windows XP. Howerver, I can't install audio driver. I follow the instruction to install from a specific location C:\swsetup\SP34200 and the C:\swsetup\SP34204. My .inf file is at8ven5a (don't have w30b2a). It tried to install the driver, but No Audio device is the result! And on the Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark for a Conexant High Definition Audio.
  
  Please help me :).

- I've tried installing some Connexant HD audio drivers i downloaded but none of them has worked. I tried the Compaq website and was instead redirected to the HP website.   This will create a swsetup folder in c drive ("C:\swsetup\sp34200")
  
  Installing this driver may result in an error. But continue with the
  following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.
  
  1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
  
  2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click
  Update driver.
  
  3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
  
  4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to
  install"
  
  5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the
  list.
  
  6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
  
  7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp34200 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2a)
  file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.

I downgrated from Window Vista to Xp, installed all driver, the sound card still works but I only hear the sound, canno't use Microphone, The external Mirophone doesn't work either

if you check the compaq/hp website you need two sets of drivers for hd audio chips.
one being realtek

the other being the microsoft uaa universal audio, one does not work without the other.

I guess this method would be seriously awesome if HP/Compaq would stop being jaggs about this and allow it even be downloaded anymore.

Seemingly they've disabled the download and only have the links for show.

MSFT must be complaining how nobody wants to keep Vista on their machines....

I've upgraded the driver from HP sp34200 version 3.26.0.0 to 3.45.0.50
using the files from Microsoft update catalog. This driver is now
3.45.0.50 and includes STEREO MIX. You can use the setup.exe for
automatic install.
Note that due to changes, the driver is obviously no longer digitally
signed.
The driver matches: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30D9
The driver is for XP 32-bit, for the compaq presario C700 series.

Hi, I had the same problem and, after 12 hours of working on it over the duration of a summer, I finally found the driver you are looking for.

First, uninstall and drivers you have installed for the device. Run setup in the unpacked zip file (and it may give an error about a MEDIA device missing), then restart your computer. When you get the windows xp "add new hardware wizard", choose the "WiSVHe5" file as the driver in advanced mode. Then, in device manager, go to properties->properties->right click on audio device, and then properties one more time. Make sure it is NOT mapping through the device, and that it is using it.

right Click on the sound icon on the task open file and go to properties put a check mark in the box for mic and then it should work

I have a Compaq Presario Notebook PC and the device is Conexant HD audio smart audio 221. There is a note that tell me that "this device has installed successfully but still doesn't work correct". So what can I do? I have removed Windows Vista and I replace them with genuine Windows XP because the Intel Celeron was too weak to handle the Vista operation system.
