Hi,

The best thing is send it to the company for a repair or if it is still under warranty just go for a replace.

You can download the instruction manual from HERE
you will find the troubleshooting steps to fix your problem.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution.

Hi,

I know this may sound strange but iRiver themselves is your best point of contact (specifically the US support centre). I wanted to do something similar recently and they gave me detailed instructions with diagrams on request.

Every time I turn on my iriver h10 it freezes on the artists and won't go anywhere. How do I fix this ? resetting doesn't help

not sure what's wrong but try this..

hook up your h10 via the ums trick...
The UMS trick is a great thing to know how to do. With it, you can transfer music, or treat your H10 as a harddrive to put anything you want on.
The UMS trick will also allow you to use your H10 with virtually any OS.
For 5/6 GB MTP Models
  • Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
  • Take out the battery, wait a second, and put the battery back in.
  • Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
  • Plug the H10 into your computer.
  • Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
  • You will see the message "UMS Mode" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
For 20 GB MTP Models
  • Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
  • Poke the "reset" button with a paperclip.
  • Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
  • Plug the H10 into your computer.
  • Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
  • You will see the message "Emergency Connection" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
For UMS Models UMS models do not need this trick because they are always in UMS mode!

download and run the free playlist maker software called EASYh10. It will scan the music files on the h10 music folder and save a new playlist to your player.

UMS

Try plugging it in to the computer first while the device is off. Then, hold the O key and press the power button. Worked for me.

Upgraded to Vista

I have lately experienced the same problem with my H10 20GB. I noticed it happened after installing some other software. I think there is an conflict between iriver and apple, I mean iTunes Helper present in memory causes the trouble. I stopped the process from Task Manager and reconnected my H10. It helped. If you don't need iTune Helper you'd better disable "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe" from starting with system.

Require more history 1/condition of H10 battery B4 this problem (blown Charger Fuse) occurred 2/perhaps battery condition severly depleted creating high current draw upon initial charge attempt 3/not certain if an circuit protection fuse exists in H10 4/Chk charger wiring for shorts bare contacts etc.
