Question about Saeco Vienna De Luxe Espresso Machine

Cannot produce steam

Hi,
I have a 3 year 5month new expresso machine.
My espresso machine is having trouble producing steam. When I have the Hot Water Selector pressed in, I get hot water just fine. When I have the HWS depressed, I can hear the machine switch over to steam mode, get a little steam but then it peters out, and then I get the red light.
Is this something I can fix on my own?
I use only distilled water. I do clean it regularly. I even take the brew group out and take out the metal filter, and even the two little metal screws to rinse out the spring and little clear ball... So I was disappointed to have this unit fail in an area that seems inaccessible to me.
I'm at the point of junking it since shipping/repair will probably come close to the price of a new unit.
Thanks for any help!

Ok so even though I have been faithful in using distilled water I might still be suffering from some sort of scale build up? This at least gives me something to check out - thanks!

The machine have a separate heating system for steam than hot water for steam. The steam system it might be full of scale. If you hand are good you can easily remove top panel and side panel. You can follow the teflon pipe from the steam wand and it will lead you to the steam solenoid valve and the small copper steam heating system and desasemble it both the valve and small boiler and remove any scale and dirt from it using a wire brush, shurp screwdriver and similar tool. Then poot them back together. You can try the machine with panel removed so if it needs something more to try once more again. One small tip advice. Use your camera and make pictures of everything before desasemble them, then you are safe if you forget about something. In this way you can clean everything metalic that the water pass though.

Water shoots out of steam valve and can't make espresso

Samantha,

The steam function and the expresso use the same elements to create the steam but the valves will direct the steam to the expresso unit or the steam arm. Most likely you have a faulty valve. In most cases the valve will not open until the pressure gets to the right level. If you are just getting hot water out of the steam arm instead of steam via the expresso unit it most likely means that the valve is faulty. The valves can be replaced but is not easy. You will need to have the unit serviced or you could try to replace the valves. Make sure the flow meter is working before you replace the valves. You can check the operation of the flow meter by running the hot water cycle and making sure that you get the right amount of hot water. Good luck!

Sylvia still makes great milk for steam but on Saturday it stopped producing hot water for expresso. What do I do? I live in North Tas

Hi
. If the brew thermostat is bad it won’t heat. To test for this, push the steam switch and wait 15 seconds. Then open the steam knob and push the middle button and see if the water is warm. If it is then you need a new brew thermostat. That is the thermostat that has the red dot on the top. It sets on top of the boiler next to the steam thermostat. If you take the top off, make sure that the machine is unplugged.

You should not have your steam wand on for more than a minute.

Doesn't produce steam out of the steam wand for more than 1 min.

Hi.
That sounds like you have a bad steam thermostat. You can replace that your self. Its the thermostat on the top of the boiler.
The other one is on the side.

Leaking water from steamer

For the grouphead check the basket there might be a slight bump around the edge that is preventing it from making a good seal when it contacts the gasket in the head. If the Double works fine then the gasket is not the problem.
For the steam wand try flushing wand for 3 seconds just before steaming, if that does not help with the watery milk, then the boiler is not getting hot enough to produce steam.

Seaco Incanto not frothing milk properly

Hi
When was the last time you descaled the machine, and not with vinegar? Scale can accumulate inside the boilers and insulate the water from the heating elements, produce less steam. Descale on a regular basis.

I have a expresso machine ESP6. it is not letting out enough steam or frothing milk. what's the problem and how to fix it?

The steaming wand's tip gets gunked up with milk so make sure to clear that with a needle first. Make sure the machine is fully heated before using the stream function (should have an indicator light). Typically this model will expel water first, then a low pressure steam. After about 30 - 40 seconds it should produce meduim pressure steam. Make sure the pump is making the proper clunk, clunk sound or it could be failing. Also, the steam wand arm may be obstructed and descaler solution will have to be used to remove the deposits. Hope this helps.

No steam!

Ran into the same problem on mine just after using the steam, so it definetely wasn't clogged... hope this helps.

Just try running the expresso maker through a full cycle and then try the steam again. Not sure if the machine air locked or something, but the expresso cycle appeared to get the water flowing again and then it had no trouble producing steam.

Hope it works.

The Steam Mechanism Won't Operate

hi there,

I too am having a similar problem with my breville espresso machine. Whereby i used to be able to froth the milk with no problems but these past couple of days, the steam button light is illuminated, when i turn the knob to steam the milk, the steam button's light goes off and the hot water gets illumintaed and all i get is hot water. It also does not make that thumping noise it usually does just before the steaming begins. Please help!

I have tried clenaing it, letting the hot water run for a few minutes (not just seconds) but still the issue isn't resolved. I am thinking about taking it back to the manufacturer as it is still under warranty. Only prob is they are on the other side of the state :o(

Many thanks,
Alison
