Not working We just bought our Dyson DC18 2 months ago, and today it lost suction. The motor will not come on. The roller thingy will, but not the motor.

Dyson - Animal - The roller is running but does not seem to be sweeping the carpet as it used to making the nice clean marks. The roller had been filled with yarn and hair and I cleaned it. Now it doesn't seem to work nearly as well. The motor and suction are all working fine.

as I was using my vacuum, had a plastic bag on the floor and was sucked up and now the rollers wont turn and the motor doesnt see to go on, is there maybe a reset to turn it back on?

I have the dyson dc18 slim allergy and i accidently sucked up a duster that when around the brushes, now the brush does not rotate.

Is there a reset button as the hoover itself is working.

    Thanks you

If only 2 months old, take it for repair as it is under warranty.

My Dyson 41 has just started only sucking through the tube

We've had our DC41 for 4 months now and suddenly noticed no suction at the base as well. Base motor works fine.Thought I'd take one last look before sending in for repair. At the base of the attachment hose near the motor is a small red tab. I depressed it and pulled the entire hose off the motor. Sure enough inside was a eyeliner pencil our daughter had unknowingly vacuumed up. I couldn't see it just peering the length of the hose. Even with a flashlight. You don't see mention of the small red tab but it allows you to see close up rather than peering down the hose if something is lodged near the motor. Apparently this pencil prevented the internal hardware to switch from wand to base suction when the handle is reclined in floor vacuum mode. These vacuums have strong suction and they will pull up the oddest things! Hope this helps!!

My Dyson animal seems to have an electrical issue that I am unable to pinpoint. Neither the wand nor the floor vac have any suction AT ALL. In fact the vac makes absolutely no sound and you wouldn't even...

there is a filter inside the canister, and by your description it sounds like it needs to be cleaned. if you remove the filter and blow it out using a air compressor or using a slightly ridged brush and tapping the filter out this should solve your suction issue.

The bar isn't turning on my Dyson Ball vacuum. It is brand new, never has been used, turn it on and the bar doesn't turn around.

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The Dyson DC15 Ball is a two motor upright vacuum. Most other uprights use just a single motor that controls the suction on one end, and the roller brush on the other end.

The Dyson however is different. The DC15 has two motors, one dedicated to suction, the other dedicated to running the roller brush. You should first check to make sure that you in fact have turned on the lower motor for the carpet setting. There are two switches right next to each other, one is for the suction, the other for the roller brush, make sure both switches are turned to the on position.

If both are in the on posistion, and the brushes still don't come on, the machine also has a reset switch for the lower motor. This is here to help protect the belt from burning if something gets stuck in the vacuum while it's on. There is a little red reset button on the top of the roller brush housing (I believe on this model it's on the left side of the brush if you were vacuuming), try pressing this red reset switch.

If neither one of these suggestions fixes your machine, I would personally return the vacuum to where you bought it. There's no reason that it should not work right out of the box, and this may mean that the machine was damaged in shipping.

If you'd like some further help, please let me know by entering a clarification request to these suggestions, and I'd be more then happy to try and diagnosis this further with you.

Was this helpful to you? If so, please be sure to rate the repair tip as helpful, this will help me out a lot. I really appreciate it.

Have Dyson DC14. Lots of suckion through hose but

Had the same problem on brand new cleaner DC14 and it was the belt that drives teh front roller not being connetted to the small silver motor spindle. I just opened the front roller cover (3 easy unlocking screws on base) and saw black rubber belt was not connetted and was loose. I just flipped the belt over the silver motor spindle and away we go (after cover was put back on). It now works as it should!

I bought this dyson vacuum cleaner 10 months ago and the roller has not worked for the last two months. Can I return it for a new one?

The answer to this may depend on what country you live in. Within the first year (which yours is) you should be entitled to either free repair or replacement, provided the problem is not self-inflicted. If you live in a country that has a free Dyson help-line, I suggest you try phoning there first. If your problem's not resolved, go back to wherever you bought the machine.

For your new machine that does not power on - call the Dyson helpline - your power switch may need to be replaced. They'll set you up with a repair dealer who will fix it for you.
