Question about Ricoh Aficio CL2000 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Printer problems hi I have today aquired a ricoh CL2000 laser colour printer, my problem is I installed the driver and that was fine, it began printing fine, I then went to print a brochure with 33 pages of both tex and graphics the first few pages came out fine, the next had the graphics missing and in some instances the text was garbbled and could not be unsterstood. I then decided to try and print a 2 page publisher document and it both movrd and distorted the graphics and then began printing all graphics in solid balck blocks, when I turn the computer off the printer goes to ready mode but when i turn it back on it constantly says processing or waiting and the data in button is constantly flashing, it will not let me access the menu or print test pages but it will when the pc is switched off, can you help me resolve this, it is almost as if it has something stuck in its memory and can get past it or erase it, I did cancel all print jobs to try and clear it but nothing seems to be working, please can you help me

It really sounds like you either have to reload the driver, or select a differnt driver from the Richo web site.
Often times the driver will corrupt or simply be a poor match up for the system.
I would delete the priter from the printer consol on your computer, would be in control panel under printers and faxes. And reinstall. And again, try between a PS and PCL driver for the most compatible one.

You can download more then one, they will go into different files.

Download one that is names a PS, ( Post Script) which is a driver better written for graphics. and or PCL5 and or PCL6, which is less detailed in graphics, but more stable.

You can have more then one, it will just ask you which one to select if you use the install method where you select the drivers by company then scroll to the driver. Just make sure you kno where you have downloaded them, Trust me, if you don't you may search forever..If you download to the location it pops up to send to, that will be in the make screen when you go to set up

You can download them to your desktop, create a new file on the desktop and drag and drop it there.

    Did that make sense?

Hi, the CL2000 has a hard disk drive, mounted on the controller board, where image data is stored temporarily. If you're worried about sensitive data, it's a good idea to have a technician remove the hard drive before you give the printer away.

How do I reset the replace transfer belt message on a Ricoh CL2000

You'll have to replace the transfer belt with a brand new one in order to clear that message. Installing a transfer belt from another machine won't clear it -- it must be a completely new unit.

Strange lack of color lines

These are actually called PCU ( photo conductor unit) and yes they can be required to be changed frequently at times. I work on a lot of Ricoh printers and this is a common issue.

Error Message: Replace Black PCU

I'm not sure how to obtain one, but "Black PCU" stands for Black Photoconductor Unit, and according to a manual for a different Ricoh printer model, it should be fairly simple to replace if you can find one.
