Hold down "F2" to enter BIOS when you restart your computer. Using the arrow keys, navigate until you find your processor settings and set them all back to manufacturer's default.

How can I fix my PC, Acer with NMD processor, whenever I try to power it on it fails. I have tried to check the power supply but it seems ok.

Sometimes the on board battery that keeps the BIOS going when the computer has no power can fail. This can stop the computer from starting.
Open it up and look for the battery, get the number, get a new one (should be a couple of bucks) and then change it. Leave power on otherwise it will reset BIOS. What I mean is leave it plugged in and power on to do it even though the computer is not starting.

My desktop problem was do not re booting

hi check the power supply unit first, if those output voltages are present and no voltage drop, which supply the mother board as will as for the hard drive. if power supply failure it will not continue to reboot the system. removed the power supply then repair it, however you can replaced with new refurbished power supply unit. hope this will help thanks for using the fixya good day.

No power when I push the power button.

This may be that either your power button is stuck or dirty or broken worn or your power supply unit went bad. You can replace these rather cheap these days. I get them at just remove the cover and get the same one as you have replace and you are on your way again. I do not believe it is the mother board. If you are not sure how to do this take it in and have it tested it is cheaper than a new computer to get it done correctly then spend money on this trying to isolate the issue. This is usually a sign of a bad power supply unit, thanks for using FixYa! John

Wont power up

If the power supply from your friends old computer may not fave all of the correct plugs to power up your computer. You system needs 2 plugs going to the motherboard one with 20 pins and one with 4 pins. Besure you have the correct plugs. The second thing to check is recheck the friendss power supply in another machine. Last option is that when your power supply overheated and died that it damaged your motherboard and you may have to replace it too.

Deep freeze computer inresponsive

it sounds like your computer power supply went bad.
go to your local computer store and buy a power supply, install it and you should be up and running.

that is if you didn't fry everything from running it without the proper cooling.

make sure that you have proper cooling fans in your computer, a fan outside will not do it.
It sounds like your power supply fan stopped working and it just got to hot and died

No poer to computer

You cannot change a power supply unit on a computer, you will damage the whole computer or you can even fry yourself.

Buy a new computer.

Your problem is one of two things:

  1. Power supply inside the computer has died
  2. The motherboard has bad capacitors.
I would get your local neighborhood geek to have a look, or drop the PC off at the local computer store for diagnosis and repair estimate. If it's only the power supply, those run about $25. If it's the motherboard, those run up to $150, and for a PC that old---I'd replace the entire unit rather that put that kind of repair money into something that actually has reached the end of its useful life.
