Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezerfreezer is not keeping items frozen- moisture - 2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

How do i replace the heater on a maytag RSW22E0D side by side?

Place all frozen items that are inside the freezer now into a ice chest. Unplug the power cord from wall receptacle that goes to the refrigerator. Place a few towels inside the bottom section of freezer to absorb any water that overflows the freezer floor during manual defrost. Place a bucket of very hot water inside the freezer and close the doors. Give the freezer time to warm up and melt the ice behind the rear wall of the freezer. Ice on the inside walls of chest freezer

Check the seal around the lid sits firmly on the rim, give it a good defrost before restocking. Make sure all else is working and clean, particularly any condenser grilles / fans.

Chest freezer not freezing on bottom

Sounds like a circulation problem. Does it have a fan inside the freezer. Should be bdhind the floor or one of the wall panels. There should be a vent for the air to circulat through. If so check to make sure it's running when the compressor runs.

Whirpool Side by Side making loud humming noise from freezer side

I had the exact same issue last night. I would press on the back panel long enough and the noise would go away only to return this morning at 4am. I finally got up took all of the bins and shelves out and found an very large accummulation of ice at the bottom (floor) and walls of the freezer. The ice accummulation was causing the rattling of the tubes in the wall of the freezer (I don't know what you call them), but they were frozen over on one side. I found this out once I took the back wall panel off of the inside of the freezer. I also found the drain hole back there and it was frozen over solid, as well as my ice dispensing unit at the top of the freezer. This whole problem began when I turned on the ice maker 3 days ago. I used my hair dryer and hot water to clear all of the ice from both areas and now it is nice and quiet. Don't know if the acccummulation is due to some defrost switch gone haywire, but at least the rattling is gone and my freezer is back to square 1 for the time being and I saved myself a visit from the appliance guy in the meantime. Took me a total of 1 1/2 hours to do it all.

Sounds like your Condenser Fan located under the refrigerator is not working. The Condenser Fan keeps the Compressor cool and must be operational. It may be stopped up with dirt, etc. or it is just bad. Also check you Condenser Coil for being stopped up with dirt, etc. A vacuum cleaner with a crevice wand will do the job. Hope this helps! Freezer is running but the items are thawing and not freezing

it could possible be the defroster unit going out on the thermostat theres a hole on the bottom where you can access a screw that will allow you to check and see if the defroster is working put a srew driver in the hole and turn it clock wise till you here it click and then listen for the unit to start defrosting cycle you'll hear a hissing like sound if its working if not you'll need a new defrosting unit

Freezer gets ice on back wall but wont freeze , fridge either

Hi Brian,

I recommend that you set the freezer to a WARMER setting to avoid getting ice on the back of the freezer. The ice is preventing good air flow over the cooling plate and therefore is not keeping the items in your freezer cold enough. You will need to remove the ice - which can be a daunting task. If you are able to store all your frozen items somewhere else for a while, it would be best to let the whole thing thaw out. I can't find any specs on that fridge, but i would guess that it does not have an automatic defrost, which is, in part, what is causing your problem.

If you are in a humid climate this will happen more frequently - especially if you have the unit outdoors or in an unairconditioned area.

Ice build up

Sounds like moisture built up in insulation and may be defrost problem. If you can check inside coil to see if it is clear then moisture is in wall and carrying cold to out side or area is not well insulated. Again hard to tell with out getting into it .
