Good day,
Best to follow a step by step proceedure to isolate and correct your problem.

First step is to take a small paper cup of water and fill the cavity until it is near full. With the ice maker turned on, close freezer door and wait 3 hours to see if it harvests. If not, the ice maker is bad, and must be replaced. If the cubes harvest then.......
Three possibilities.
1. The water supply from the house is not delivering water to the water valve. Shut off the house at the meter, disconnect the line going to the water valve, and with the line pointed into a bucket, have someone turn the valve back on for a 15 second count. The water should come out smartly. If not, the line and it's fittings will have to be replaced.
2. The fill tube from the back of the machine that feeds water into the back of the ice maker is frozen up. You will have to remove the ice maker to visually inspect that tube. If blocked, it needs to be defrosted, but use caution. Too much heat too fast will start to melt plastic and vinyl parts you don't want melted.
If this is the case, then once cleaned out, you will have to change the water valve located in the back bottom rear of the machine because it is leaking during the off cycle.
3. If everything checks O.K. up to this point, you will have to purchase and install a new water valve, and install it.
P.S. Under very rare occasions the electric circuity in the ice maker will fail to send a signal to the water valve. Although rare, it can happen, in which case the best option is to replace the ice maker and water valve.

Ice maker reset

Either valve solenoid supplying water to ice maker is bad, or supply tube to ice maker is frozen(which is typically caused by leaky water valve), or ice maker is bad.

Power to ice maker but won't make ice

Hallo

1:At the back of the Fridge at the bottom there will be a water inlet splitting up in two separate pipes, each supplying a solenoid.
2:Trace the pipes from there and see witch pipe flows into the Freezer(usually its the one on the right hand side).
3:Now turn the fridge of and place your hand one the solenoid and turn it on, you are suppose to feel a bit of a shock(kick) witch tells you it opens up and can supply the ice maker with ice.
If it does supply the ice maker then the controller(cycle timer) on the ice maker if faulty and you should order a new controller.
4:If so send me the brand name of the fridge with serial and module number and your country and city and ill get the nearest suppler to you.

Refrigerator does not produce ice or water. Kenmore Elite Refrigerator Model Number: 795-775-69600

If you have both ice and water stopping you have a water supply issue.

Water enters under city pressure through an eighth inch supply line.

Start simple and work from there.

If the fridge was moved the line can get kinked. Slide the fridge out and check you have water to it. You can loosen the supply line connection just a little and you should see water leaking. If not it is a plumbing issue in the house. Most likely a the supply line is kinked or possibly someone closed the shutoff valve to the fridge.

OK so we have water to the fridge.

Water comes in and connects to a water filter and then to the door.

If the filter is badly clogged it can cause low pressure to the door and that would cause the problem. Check the filter.

If no go still then check where the water is stopping.

Remove the from cover from under the unit. That is the plastic grate at the bottom of the fridge. It will just pull off but be gentle and take your time so as not to break anything.

Water supply will run through a clear plastic hose. It runs to the filter then to the bottom of the freezer door and up through the door.

You can sometimes see where the water has stopped and clear or replace parts as needed.

There is a connection just before entering the door from the filter. You can loosen that to see if you have water to that point.

If you have water past the filter the problem is in the ice maker and water supply inside the freezer door. Water can leak here, expand, and crack plastic parts easily.

If there is water to the door then you need to dig into that. This gets a little more complex to describe but in short take the ice maker out and check for water supply or broken parts. The problem is probably before the ice maker as your water in the door is not working. This indicates it is not just the ice maker.

Hope this helps.

If the water filter needs to be replaced will the ice maker automatically quit?

Good day,
Possible if creating a serious enough blockage, and you were experiencing a gradual loss of output.
If the failure was abrupt and quick. No. Ice maker, water valve, water supply, fill tube to ice maker iced up, and too warm a freezer, will cause loss of ice maker production.

Iam not getting water to my ice maker . the tube from the bottom is empty could the fill switch have gone out?

You need a inline water filter for the ice maker. The city water supply has minerals and dirt in it that clog the fill switch. You can usually clean the switch.

My refrigeretor kenmore elite is not making ice. What could be the problem?

Its best to install an inline water filter on an ice maker because the minerals and dirt that is in the city water supplys. Unfiltered water will clog the water turn on/off valve and it will need to be taken apart and cleaned out.

I had to install a good quality inline filter in the water supply line going to my ice maker. The city water has alot of bad things in it.At least it does here.

Ice Maker Not Working

Hi: A lot of reverse osmosis systems don't supply enough water pressure to the ice maker to fill. Contact your manufactrue of your reverse osmosis system and see if it works with icemakers. I thind usually the require at least 20-30psi. Or hook your refrigerator to city pressure to see if it works. Also I don't know if you have just an ice maker or a water dispensing side by side, or your water quality. If you just have an icemaker, most chlorine will evaporate before the ice is frozen, any odors in the water will still be there. Good Luck, Jeff
