Question about Lexmark C510 Laser Printer

My Lexmark C510 keeps popping up with a Paper Jam 241 error in Tray 1. There is no paper jam. I open the printer door take the tray out, put it back in and shut the door. How can I fix this problem? I can't print a thing.

I have a Lexmark C510 colour printer: Manufacture date June 2005.
I had been getting the "Paper Jam 241 error in Tray 1" message for some time. Sometimes it would print just fine but in the past several months, it's been bad. I'd pull the tray out (notice roller marks on the top sheet that was only partially fed), reinserted the sheet properly into the tray and try again and again. The techy at Lexmark mentioned that I could purchase a new rubber roller that feeds the sheet but that I might first wipe down the roller myself as they get worn and old. I first wiped it down with a damp cloth to clean it then thought to try reconditioning it with leather conditioner we'd purchased for our couch (I'm sure Amourall would work just as well). Voila, the old, dry roller was picking up paper again. Just open the rear door and that grey roller (it's black again when you recondition it) is at the bottom. Hope that helps.

Is this the large diameter roller right above the rear end of the paper tray? The one that's maybe four inches long by 2" diameter?

I just bought a C510 on Craigslist - thought I got a great machine - worked fine until I tried to print a thirty-sheet job. Got maybe 15 sheets into it - Paper Jam 241!

Somewhere in my junk I have a bottle of reconditioner for rubber belts. Evil smelling stuff, but makes rubber like new. I'll have to give that a try. It that doesn't work, I guess I'll just pony up for a new roller.

I don't think Armorall would work well here - it makes things slippery. Just the opposite of what you want.

Yes, it is the roller at the rear that basically sits over the rear end of the paper tray ready to feed the sheets through - when you open the rear door, its the only roller visible. Since my last post it is working like it should and couldn't be happier that I don't have to repair or tinker with it any more. Unless the smell of the conditioner you have disipates over a short period of time, I'd recommend finding a small sample bottle of proper leather conditioner :-). Good Luck.
PS You are probably right about the Armourall.

Rubber rollers have gone like F1 tyres after a race get a tin of triple R from maplins spray on roller and give it a good clean with a cloth not paper towel try that if it still slips try a bit more and try printintin it should pick and clean the feed roller as it turns

SOURCE: lexmark c510 241 paper jam error

had same trouble with card stock

I read the manual...lo! There are markers on the inside of the feed tray for various media. Complied with these markers, and no more problem. Should work for paper too.

SOURCE: 241 paper jam

Check the paper tray guides, check the the paper feed roller (remove the tray and look up in the printer) it is possibly worn and needs replacing, you can try to clean it (hand soap is as good as anything)

241 paper jam message

Lexmark T630 241 paper jam message - Indicates a paper jam from the pull down manual feed tray.

If you check to make sure and small fragments of paper are not hindering the operation of the switch. The switch is located on the left side of the tray and will be spring loaded. The switch should move freely without binding. Make sure no toner or dust is on the optical sensor assembly. See Diagram for location.

If the switch seems OK and the printer still reports an error, the printer will require professional care.

Getting the message "241 Paperjam Check Tray 1" I've checked tray 1 and have not found a paper jam

Hi,
Turn the printer upside down and shake to find any paper jam as in most cases you will find some paper or dust falling out and then try.

Paper Jam light is on but no paper jam in printer?

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

I have a optras1855 printer and a message keeps coming up 241 paper jam check tray 1. the problem is there is no paper jam. i know this because i have another machine the same model and that does the same...

I'll bet that if you put a mark on the top sheet of paper in tray one and then send a print job or run a self test you will see that the paper stays in tray one. I suspect that you have a paper pick problem.

Worn or slick rollers can be one source or a weak tray supports. Also, take the paper out of tray one and fan the paper to break any static that may cause the paper to stick together.

When printing paper continues to jam.

  1. Take out paper tray 1.
  2. Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find there.
  3. Once you have done this, reinstall the paper tray and try printing again.
Note: You may receive a message informing you that another sheet of paper is jammed elsewhere in the printer. If so, please open the front door and remove the toner cartridge. Also open the rear door of the printer (and the duplex option if a duplex unit is installed). Remove any and all jammed sheets of paper you find. Then try printing again.
  4. If the printer jams again with a 241 Paper Jam error message, look to see if it has tried to feed a sheet of paper out of the tray.

Optra 2450 error 241

24X Paper Jam message displays, Paper jammed over the Pass
Thru Sensor. (The printer displays the value of X for the paper tray
where the error occurs. Example: 241 is a Paper Jam Tray 1)

That is a quote directly from the service manual. You have a paper jam, or some tiny bits of paper stuck over the pass thru sensor. Remove debris and clean out to fix your problem.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

240 error

24x errors are paper jam error 241 tray 1 242 tray 2 ect. this means that the paper does not make it to the timming sensor inside the printer. this si usually caused by dirty pick wheels on the autocompensator located inside the drawer on the bottom of the printer

OPTRA T610 NOT PRINTING FROM TRAY1

What happens is that the rubber roller that's supposed to pick paper up and load it in doesn't pull the paper from the tray anymore, hence it gives the paper jam error message. If you want you can replace that rubber roller to fix the problem, however first thing I do is to take that rubber roller out (remove tray and look underneath to find the roller) and turn it inside out then fit it back. This will give the rubber roller the grip that it missed and solve your problem.

I agree - the guides inside the paper feed tray must be EXACTLY aligned with the paper size. This fixed my problem.
