the weed eater was given to me. i found the primer bulb to have a hole in it and that is why i replaced it. i checked the fuel filter and found it to be in really bad shape and not letting fuel through so that is why i replaced it. the fuel lines were replaced as they were old and fuel would leak out of the tank around where they went in. i have checked and the lines are on correctly. i dont see any fuel in the primer bulb at all, but there is fuel in the carb as when i loosen the screw on top of the carb fuel will leak out. i have taken the top plate off the carb and pushed the primer bulb and there is plenty of fuel. when i first replaced everything and tried to start it, it tried to run for just a few seconds. since then nothing.

Ok you have to be 100% certain that you reassembled those hoses correctly, if any one of them is incorrect you are dead in the water as far as getting fuel properly. Tell me 2 things, Why did you feel they needed to be changed? and now that you've done it does the new primer bulb pump fuel at all, and maintain a full bulb of fuel after 15 min?

Homelite weed trimmer bogs down and smothers out quits running

This could be a number of things. Clogged air filter/fuel filter/carburetor/fuel tank lid breather hole, cracked fuel line or primer bulb, or clogged spark arrestor in muffler. Here's some links that will help to change the bulb, fuel cap, fuel lines, rebuild carb, replace spark arrestor, and troubleshoot.

I have a homelite string trimmer,I bought new fuel hose for it.the fule lines on it rotted! I'm confused ! the one that holds the filter ,where does it connect to? Thanks Bob

If the primer is on the carburetor the filter went to the primmer the suction and the other line from the primer went back in to the fuel tank.

MY HOMELITE STRING TRIMMER UT21505 PRIMER BULB LEAKS. MY PARTS LIST DOE'S NOT SHOW THIS PART. CAN I PUCHASE IT OR DO I HAVE TO THROW IT AWAY

You can easily get a new primer bulb for it...most small engine repair shops will have what you need, and if you want, you can most likely snag one on Ebay....DON'T THROW IT AWAY, ok?

Primer button on homelite gas trimmer

It's possibly the filter, can't help there. I would check for a split line or loose connection between the tank and bulb and even splits in the bulb itself.

String trimmer won't start. How do I flush the

To flush system
Drain tank, use primer bulb to push out fuel in the lines, refill, use primer to bring in fresh fuel. You may need to pull the rope a few times with the choke on, and then push the primer several times again. Sometimes you may need to put a few drops of fuel into the throat of the carburetor to help it start to fire.
If the problem is severe enough, you may need to remove the carb to disassemble and clean. I have listed a few things to check.

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

Won't start

drain fuel tank. keep depressing the primer bulb until it is clear. drain tank again. remove carb cover and disconnect lines one at a time. keep depressing primer bulb to get rid of excess gas. remove spark plug an turn engine in a position that the spark plug inlet is facing the floor, pull starter rope a few times to get rid of gas in the engine chamber.

My string trimmer will not start

Possible solutions:
-Kill switch is shorted out-check the wire and connections.
-Buy a new plug.
-Primer bulb needs to be replaced.
-Fuel filter needs to be replaced, and it's located inside the gas tank so it's a bit tricky to replace.
-Try starting it without the air filter attached.

Is it possible an incorrect mix of gas/oil was used (or straight gas) which in turn ruined the motor?

Need diagram for fuel lines on craftsman chainsaw

There is two sizes of line. I see the large one goes to the large port on the primer button and then to the fuel tank. The small one goes from the primer button to the carb. The problem is there are two hose connections on the carb. I believe one is a vent, but I am not sure what one it is. I have a 36cc 2-cycle model 358.352161
