Well, this is Driver problems, i recomend this steps for discard the error, and fix your problem. here some options to fix. Pls, if someone of them fix your problem, do not continue making the next ones. of course.:)

0) clean your phone usb conector / sometimes pins are dirty.

1) try with another cable - sometime is cable problem.

2) check if your computer detect your phone. (it should make a windows sound) if sound, it says the comunications pc-phone are okey.,

3) go to control panel, try to "unninstall Desktop manager" -but do not do it, just select "Repair instalation" and try again.

4) if not succes, pls check "internaly" your Phone usb - conector, sometimes, some pinout are dissoldered. * this need some technical instruments to do.

I hope i could help you.

Good lucky.

Firstly delete it from your Blackberry, find another download link http://forum.eveek.com/blackberry-pearl-8100/4279-blingball-colorpearl-4-5-os-15.html like from these guys at eVeek, load it onto your pc and add it to your Blackberry via desktop manager.

Phone turns into a white screen with hourglass in the middle then shuts off. happens several times a day.

Hi it is because the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone cannot initialize the BlackBerry Device Software or there is a corrupt operating system file.
To resolve this issue, reload the BlackBerry Device Software on the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone.
To perform an installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.5 to 5.0, perform the following steps:
1) Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. 2) Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. 3) Double-click Application Loader.
4) Click Start under Update Software to start the installation process.
5) Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK.
6) Select Options under Device Software Options.
7) Select the check boxes next to the names of the applications to be loaded, and then click Next.
8) Click OK > Next > Finish.
9) When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear.
10) Click Close to return to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
I hope this information will be helpful to you.

My blackberry pearl turned itself off and when I tried turning it on all I get is an hourglass

  • BlackBerry Devices take a while to turn on, so be sure you have waited atleast 5 minutes for it to turn on
  • Make sure the battery isnt dead (plug in charger)
  • Try pulling out the battery and re-inserting it.
  • If none of the above steps worked, try this:
  1. Plug your BlackBerry into the computer.
  2. Download the latest version of the Blackberry operating system from your carrier.
  3. install it to your Blackberry using Desktop Manager

  • If it isn't recognized by the computer, or the install dosent work, call your carrier for a warranty repair.
