Question about HP Scanjet 4370

1 Answer

Hp scanjet will not copy to print

When attempting to copy anything I get the message "must have a printer setup to do a copy. Go to control panel and install a printer [1211]." I have two working printers installed already. Scanning a document to the printer works but the printing time is terribly slow. I have reset the scanner by unpluging the power for 60 seconds, reinstalled the software.
I posted this info on another thread to answer "reply if you have the same problem" but the posted result indicates I have a solution to the problem. NOT.

I have the same problem that has been described about the copy not working. However I have problems with the suggested solution. First I cannot click start and find my Printer. I have to go to the control panel to locate the printer. Secondly when I right click the default printer on the general tab I get no response., therefore no copy button to click My journey ends there. Are there some steps missing in the solution?

FROM HP, searched and found after three or four weeks of unresolved solutions .. and that's fixed the problem !!

Solution Follow the steps below:

  1. Click Start , then Printers and Faxes .
  2. Right-click the system default printer and click Properties .
  3. On the General tab, right-click the default printer and click Copy .
  4. Click Cancel to exit.
  5. Click Start and then click Run .
  6. In the Run dialog box, type regedit and click OK . WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Hewlett-Packard cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of the Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the Registry before you edit it. For information about how to edit the Registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" help topics in Regedit32.exe.
  7. In the Registry Editor window, click Edit , then click Find... , and search for the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hewlett-Packard\DigitalImaging\hpfccopy .
  8. Double-click Printer in the right pane.
  9. In the Edit String window, paste the printer name as it appears in the Registry under Value data (for example, hp photosmart 8400 series) .
  10. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.
  11. Press Copy on the scanner. The default printer connected to the system should normally print the scanned document.
Cause This issue occurs when the default printer or the list of printers is not recognized on the hpfccopy function in the Current User section of the Registry.

Is this a USB communication? Try deleting the printer, pull the USB connector, and go through the entire install procedure again.
