Washer slowly fills with water when not in use. I

Recently, my washer began slowly filling with water when not in use. I suspect that the seals on the inlet valve are failing due to hard water. But I'd like to confirm this with others who have experienced the same problem before ordering parts. My machine is 5 years old.

I ordered a new inlet valve. After purchasing and reviewing the service manual, I'm 95% sure that this is the source of the problem. The only other remote possibility is that if a small amount of electrical current were being supplied to the solenoid on the valve causing it to not completely shut off when not in use. I thought that this is highly unlikely and the part was only $60 so I went for it.

I have the same problem. The only problem that I have is not knowing how much water will eventually go into the tub. It takes about 4 or 5 days to accumulate about a gallon. I called the Whirlpool service center and the woman said they recomend turning the water off after each use-I think this is ridiculous. If going away on vaca maybe. Rob

Vernon; it is Rob again and although it may or may not be the remedy, make sure your machine is level. I moved mine around yesterday because it had travelled a few inches over the past few weeks. There is no water now, after 24 hours. worth a try.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I would suspect the water inlet control valve may be malfunctioning- not closing (its default no power position).
Quick temporary fix, although tiresome, turn whichever tap, hot or cold, off when washing finished. You've probably already thought of that!
In the meantime I would suggest a service call is required ;-0(

My Whirlpool ultimate care is leaking under,I did check the hoses and they are okey. What could be the problem?.

Can you describe where the leak may becoming from? For example, near the front, from under the washer, or near the back.

If you notice a pool of water coming from under the washer near the FRONT, this is commonly caused by a leaking water pump. Since these pumps are sealed units and are considered non-serviceable, it must be replaced. They cannot be resealed or "fixed".

If the leak appears to be leaking from under the washer near the CENTER of the tub, either the tub seal is leaking or the air dome hose may have come loose. If the tub seal is leaking, it also must be replaced. If the air dome hose comes loose, however, the washer will never fill up all the way and will continuously run. This will cause a flood rather than a drip.

If the leak is coming from the REAR of the washer, this can be caused by cracked fill hoses, loose fill hose connections, a leaking drain hose, or a fill valve hose leaking.

Since you said you checked your hoses, I suspect a water pump, or something loose. Can you please confirm your symptoms and let me know?

I am almost certain that your problem is the fill solenoid.

If it does not work, there will be no water entering your machine.

I would either remove it and test it or just replace it at this point.

Washer won't stop filling

The mixing valve that is part of the connector where the hose is attached has either failed or is disconnected electrically.

These are simple to replace and not too expensive.

You may have gotten some debris into the valve assembly which is being held open and is a sealed device.
If this is the case, it will probably not be removable since the valve is trying to close and will only open if voltage is applied.

Fisher&Paykel Smart Drive 601 Both Hot and Cold Water Fill very slowly

Hey there. I've had the same problem recently. It would fill slowly, and then after a while, it wouldn't fill at all. So I got some a new valve. it cost about $NZ30 delivered. You'll need one each for hot and cold. You can get parts from http://www.primedistributors.co.nz/. I think the part you need is 426142. you can check an image of it on the website. Good luck.

Washer tub slowly fills with water

Is your problem a SLOW FILL problem, or a problem with WATER DRIPPING FROM THE RUBBER DOOR SEAL - or BOTH? If you have a slow fill problem, this is generally caused by a bad fill valve, which can be attributed to hard water deposits or well water mineral deposits. Sometimes the fill valve can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled, but most of the time a new fill valve is required. If you are experiencing water leaking from the rubber door seal (bellow), it may be time to replace it. Sometimes the seal can develop a wrinkle or crease where it meets the glass, which can cause leaks. Water dripping from the door when you open after washing a load is normal. Water dripping during a load is NOT. The bellow may also have started to rip or tear inside the door which may not be noticeable until you pull the folds of the bellow back and look underneath it. I hope this helps.
