Question about Uniden Bearcat Pro PC68XL 40-Channels Base CB Radio

1 Answer

Radio loses signal strength when truck battery on or mike keyed.

As long as my battery isn't turned on my radio is sometimes strong, but as soon as I turn the key and turn on the battery my radio immediately loses signal strength and just lightly gargles. The same thing happens after I key the mike. A while ago I wired an amplifier to my PA and the wires were labeled backwards, so when I plugged it in and turned it on they wires melted, the amplifier melted and my radio has been doing this ever since. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wire your radio directly to battery!
Run about 12 guage stranded wire to your battery with a Blade fuse standard size with a 25 amp fuse sice your using a CB Amplifier inbetween put a 30 amp auto relay.going through the switching contacts.
Now wire a grond to 1 side of relay coil the other use a12v source from fuse box so when key is turned on the radio will come on! If you want cb to come on anytime then I suggest skip relay and rub wires to
the floor with insulated banna connectors but put that fuse in line also the fuses on your cb and amplifier to.

Your problem is your trying to gather DC for your radio off a vecical power source them wires are to thin and you may be getting a Bad ground saight t the battery only best way! If your radio gets weak check your battery if you hve a cb amplifier on turn off durring transmissions without car running! goood luck

Testimonial: "My problem wasn't as bad as I originally thought it was. I was missing the little plastic ring that goes in between my antenna and the connecter deal it screws into, and also I had a 2 subwoofers and and amplifier for them wired in my truck, and whenever I turned my truck on the amplifier was drawing so much power that it took it away from my CB, so I unhooked them. I appreciate your feedback though."

Power locks will not unlock with the remote, remote is allright

Try replacing the remote battery and retrying as this is often the issue with remote central locking. The LED may light, but if signal strength isn't strong enough, then nothing is going to happen.

Do the locks lock with the remote?

If you have window tint that contains metal sputter in it. That can cause interference on your fm/am signal strength. If that's the case change your tint to a carbon fiber tint that does not cause interfernce with your radio

I lose signal, I get no white noise or anything.

Sounds like you might have a bad soilder on the board. If you take off the top cover and press on the board lightly here and there will the noise change or the radio work.If so then you'll have to locate the bad joint or have someone do it for you.

Either the unit is bad there is a loose ground or the antenna connections may be loose or corroded. Bring it to an audio repair
shop and have them check it out.

When I go into other rooms I can't connect to router

How is the signal strength? Check and make sure the antennas are not loose. Is your house the old style concrete? Sometimes thick block or concrete walls are tough for the wireless signal to get through. They do make larger antennas or signal boosters for wireless routers. You may need to install one of these to boost signal strength. Also is it wireless B,G,or N? Wireless B has a very weak signal while wireless N has a very strong signal. Sometimes the router settings can be changed to adjust the signal strength and may be set too low also.

My 2000 Toyota Solara radio has started to lose a strong signal.

Check mounting surfaces at antenna. Corrosion or looseness and the antenna loses its ground to the body.

I can't make calls from my Blackberry 7290

Check on the right hand corner of your device for the vertical signal bars - 5 bars indicate full strength and 1 indicate very low signal. "OFF" indicates the radio is off and need to be turned on.

In case signal strength is good, you should be able to make and receive calls. In case it does not work, just try taking the battery out and put it back after 15 seconds and try again.

In case signal strength is low , either you are in a low signal zone or your SIM card is bad. Take the SIM card out, wipe the gold plated surface using a clean tissue, put it back and try again.

In case the radio is OFF, turn it on by clicking on the icon (Turn Wireless on) on the home page.
