Charging asus eee 1001HA netbook

Does your unit power on at all or is it just not charging the battery?

If it's just not charging your battery the likely cause is the battery has just gotten used up, replacements are usually between $50 and $89 CAD

Asus Eee 1005HA hangs on boot

This works for my Asus Eee PC
1. Shut down and remove the battery.
2. Press the power button 10 times, next 1 minute pressing down.
3. Remove the memory and at the motherboard you'll see a clrrst (clear reset cmos..)
4. Short these 2 tiny pads by placing a tiny screw driver for 5 seconds, plug the power adapter and turn-on the switch, next wait at least for 3 seconds. Remove the power adapter.
5. Place back the battery and turn-on. You'll see the same screen (Logo of Asus) then patiently wait for at least 10 minutes or more. That's it.Good luck.

I have just purchased an Asus Eee 1015PED and find the battery indicator not very accurate, e.g. it tells me I have, say, 2 hrs left then a few minutes later it will say I have 5 hrs left. Are they only a...

It's possible that by doing different things (watching videos, reading articles, etc.), your usage is constantly varying to the point where the system has difficulty figuring out how much approximate power you have left. It's also possible the laptop is still trying to figure out just how many hours you'll get on a full charge.
With a full charge, let it drain completely without wi-fi on - once it's run out of power, plug it back in to fully recharge the battery. Then, unplug it and see what kind of life it's giving you. It's possible Windows just needs to properly "calibrate".

Asus Eee PC Series 1000he Battery Life

You can try to completely discharge and recharge a few times to take it through its full cycle. However, you probably won't get much improvement. Batteries wear out with time and, after one year, I'd expect to see significant capacity loss on a machine such as this with typical usage patterns.
