Replace oil filter for 2008 Toyota Sienna - Special Service Tool

REMOVE ENGINE COVER DISCONNECT MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR CONNECTOR.LOOSEN AIRDUCT FLOW TUBE SCREWS THEN REMOVE AIR FILTER COVER HOUSING BOLTS THEN RAISE AIR FILTER COVER UP SLIGHTLY ENOUGH SLIDE IT AWAY FROM AIRFLOW DUCT.THEN REMOVE COVER REPLACE AIR FILTER THEN PUT EVERYTHING BACK UP VISA VERSA DONT FORGET TO TIGHTEN SCREWS TO AIRFLOW DUCT TUBE ONCE AIR FILTER HOUSING BACK IN PLACE.

2008 Scion xD oil filter is a cartridge (element only) type. It is located under a heavy, black plastic cap right next to the oil drain plug. To remove the cap, you will need a Toyota "Special Service Tool" or an Assenmacher Specialty Tools "TOY640" or similar cap wrench. Toyota is the only source for the oil filter element; make sure you get a new o-ring (should be in the box with the filter element) and a new drain plug gasket.

internal oil filter? that vehicle has one oil filter and its not internal. you must remove the engine undercover to access the oil filter.

Key in the off position, press and hold odometer button, turn key on. If done properly, you will see dashes on odometer, they will disappear in 10 seconds. You may now remove finger from button. The system has been reset.

im not sure of the cost but the engine does use 6qts of oil and a special paper cartridge filter.

If you had the 90,000 mile service done, and was performed to the service maintenance guide, not much is needed at 100K mils; oil change and tire rottion; replace the air filter.

get underneath and look for it. the plug will be on the bottom of the oil pan in the sump portion. the filter will be readily accessible from the underside of the vehicle as well, possibly concealed underneath a cover or hatch.

I just did an oil change service on my Touran last night (same principal as the Toureg). The Touran has a bleeder (there is a seperate screw type cover under the filter) to release the excess oil in filter (not sure it the Toureg has the same)The aluminum casing around the filter is a bit tough to remove, but turning it anti-clockwise with a little bit of force should do it. Try not to use the special tools that are available to grip the casing as you may dent it. The sump plug can be removed with standard tools. I am still working on the reset option for the 'service now' warning

You still have to drain the engine oil from the drain plug in the oil pan, and I recommend replacing the drain plug gasket.
If you buy a filter from Toyota, it actually comes with instructions on exactly what to do. There is a 3/8" recess in the bottom of the filter housing, when you put a 3/8" extension and a ratchet in this and remove it, there should be a plastic piece that comes with the filter to pop into the bottom of the housing and drain the oil. replace the o-ring and reinstall the housing drain plug.

You can get a filter-cup tool from Pep Boys or local auto parts tools sections that will fit the filter housing. Use the cup with a ratchet and extension to remove the filter housing. replace the filter cartridge and the o-ring. Make sure to lubricate o-ring, they will snag! Reinstall and add 6.4 qts of oil
