Look on the front panel of the receiver or on the remote for a button labeled "dimmer". Press it repeatedly until the display shows at a brightness level that you prefer.

Tv comes on only for a few seconds then shuts off

Something is getting heated up inside and might need servicing. I suggest not to keep using the TV as this might damage more parts.

Mitsubishi WS-65908 will not stay on

Its a color convergence problem from description:

If green light comes on for a few seconds and goes off:

On the front of the set (not the remote) press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Watch power light: it will blink a two digit error code, in your case I suspect it will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks and repeat several times.

Let me know error code and I will help.

I have this model and its been giving me probem with the picture coming on and if it came on only half the picture come on

It sounds like the inverter board for that side of set is bad(uses either one large or two small boards--if two small the one for that side is bad OR the main display panel itself is bad.

Seen more than a few of this brand come on with picture on one side and then the other side gets real bright for a few seconds and set shuts down.

Shutdown circuit will detect something is drawing a lot of current and shut set off.

This if the display panel itself is bad will not be worth fixing.

Some Plasma sets have same issue and use names like sustain board etc for the same function--they drive the display panel left side, right side or top and bottom.

Hi there, everything seems to be working but there doesn't seem to be a signal going to the TV. Am just about to try using a HDMI cable. Do you think this will help?

What I did was initally hook up both the composite (R/W/Y) cables and the HDMI and switched between TV inputs until I found the display. Once I had the display (mine was on composite) I went to the settings, then display, and switched it to HDMI input. The screen went blank and I switched to my HDMI TV input and saw the display. I unplugged the composite and it was good to go. I also had to hold my finger over the power button for a few seconds when turning it on - I believe it resets the display to default, but it worked. Good luck!

In the event that it gives you a hard drive error shortly after, it's nothing to worry about. You won't lose anything and it will take a few minutes to run its course. Just make sure you never turn it off from the back of the system first, always shut it off via menu options.

Respectfully,

Don

If backlight went out then sound should still work. Are there any indicator lights to show power is coming on anymore? Try unplugging for 30 seconds, hit power button a few times, then plug back in and try to turn on. This drains any capacitors of power to attempt to reset (basically clearing the TV's throat).

Can also try something on a different input. If current input is composite, S-video, or component, try using DVI or HDMI connection as this uses a different board in the TV. If that fixes it, then at least you can try to replace one board instead of entire tv. :)
