Question about Car Audio & Video

I have a Lightning audio 12'' subwoofer and its stuck in the down position, with little to no sound coming out. If you lift up on it, it plays regular, but when released it sucks back down and gets stuck again. Can it be fixed

What is better? 2 12 inch subs each sub 750 watt for 2 15 inch lightning audio b1 bolt subs?

The simple rule of thumb is the bigger the better but there also is another theory if you have too many driver delivering the same frequency you might end up having phase cancellation at some point.
In other words unless all the driver are placed the same distance from your ears you will end up having cancellation of bass at some or different frequencies. So moral of the story is - More is not always good !!

I have only one rca jack coming out of my cd player for subwoofer. but have two rca inputs in the lightning amp? just use one? or do i buy a "y" adapter?

if you only use the white or the red then you won't have the correct sound so i would say buy a new deck but if you must get a "y" adapter but your bass may not sound right.

Amp is on, but sub wont produce any bass

Make sure the subwoofer is set to low frequency, make sure subwoofer and bass are enabled on the headdeck. Make sure the gain is turned up on the amp, make sure the rcas haven't come out of the back of the head deck.

Wiring

1st make sure your amp is coming on. Use another speaker that you have heard play to test it.
Next test the woofer with a 9 to 15 volt battery. Touch the battery leads quickly across the + and - on one side at a time. The speaker should move and make a pop on both voice coils.
If the amp plays and speakers play, then you need to know the power rating and impedence stability of both amp and speakers. That will determine how they are wired up.

I have the same speaker and it sounds like its behaving properly.

if you look on the back of the amp, you will find a switch that allows the speaker to automatically switch the speaker on or off based on the level of the audio coming from the tuner that it is attached to. If the switch is set to the auto mode, then it will listen for audio on the line and if the signal level coming into the subwoofer is high enough, the amplifier in the subwoofer will turn on and play. If the signal is not strong or loud enough, then the subwoofer will not turn on. There are two solutions to getting the speaker to work.

1. When you turn on the tuner or audio source that is feeding the Subwoofer speaker, you will need to turn it up loud enough to trigger the circuit in the subwoofer to switch on.

2. Alternatively, you can bypass the automatic circuit and set it to the "ON position all the time. In this position the subwoofer is always ready and waiting and should play any signal that is fed to it regardless of the loudness or volume of sound from the tuner. The switch is located on the back of the speaker cabinet just to the right of the red and black speaker wire connections. It is labeled "AUTO" and the switch positions are labeled ON and OFF.

Hope this helps!
