How big was your old memory card? According to the manual, the 5700 uses cards up to 1GB in size.

I verified that I cannot format my 4 GB cards in the Coolpix 5700. This camera simply cannot use large memory cards. You should get a 1 GB card for this camera (I verified that 1 GB cards do work).

Does this camera have an internal memory? If so, you must format it with no card in the camera to erase it.

New memory card will not work but my olds ones do.

Instead of clicking yes at the first prompt, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the instructions from there.

After inserting the new SanDisk, SDHC Card, 8GB the camera prompts "Memory card requires formatting", press continue; warms that formatting will delete everything on memory card; pres continue;...

First thing; check owner's manual and USA distributor, make absolutely sure that this camera is able to read/write to a 8GB card!
If so, put that card into your computer, directly into appropriate slot or through a "reader" and the USB port. If computer runs Windows, access My Computer, click on external memory device, and RIGHT CLICK. You will get a box which offers to format the card. You can rename the card at the same time. The computer's format routine is stronger that the one in the camera. If problem still happens, consult distributor. May be fixable with a cable from camera to USB port, you download new software from distributor. Follow their instructions EXACTLY.

Keeps saying card not initialized why ?

It just means that you need to format a new card in the camera before it will work properly. Go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.

Both these disks say error when put in printer to download and say locked when put in the camera, have moved the lock on the side with no luck.

Have you ever formatted your cards in your camera? If not, that likely is your problem. They may work fine at first, but with time corrupt. Try formatting these cards in your camera, but note that this will also totally erase these cards. To format, put the cards in the camera, go to the "tools" menu, and select the item stating your cards memory capacity. Then follow the prompts to format, making sure that "low level format" is checked.

IF there are pictures on the cards that you don't want to lose prior to formatting, please see the following for some excellent freeware recovery software that you can use with your printer's card reader. AFTER you download your pictures with this software, then consider formatting:

Kodak 7590 New SD card will not format

Is this an older camera? If so it will not support sdhc cards. Sdhc is a 4+ gig card. You will need to buy a card 2 gig or under.

Problem with reading Sandisk 4gig hc micro sd card in my computer and laptop

I guess you put the SD adapter into the card reader right out of the box? You first may have to partition/format it after unpacking it. Under WinXP I can recommend an utility "DiskPart" which you can start from the command prompt (Run... -> cmd). For further instructions (if it sounds to you to be the problem ) contact me again.

I bought a 4gb Sanadisk microSDHC card for my Sansa c250 and Media player is not reading the card?

You must find the Sansa c250 menu that allows you to format the microSDHC card for use with media player.  Most microSDHC  cards are shipped unformatted.  It is a new technology and there is no standard format for microSDHC cards as they are used to store many types of data.  My cell phone uses one to store music, video, and photos, so the phone's manufacturer included a format command choice in the appropriate "phone memory" menu.  Look for the microSDHC card in a "memory" menu. Follow the prompts to format the card.  This only works on a NEW card.  If you format a used card, ALL data will be lost.  Formatting a card or a hard disk effectively prepares the memory to be written on, erasing any data previously written on it.
