Assuming you have tried more than one CD then your problem is the optics in the CD player and they only cost effective fix is to replace the radio

you can take it out and try someone to fix it, but I know in my area there is no one that will touch a stock radio

even the dealers will not send it out for repairs

MOST factory radios are considered disposable

well... if you are lucky, and don't mind spending more to fix this radio than actually buying a new aftermarket radio you could contact Mazda directly to see who manufactured this radio and then sent it back to them

anything CAN be fixed, but the cost to fix it will almost ALWAYS exceed the cost of replacement

if you want to try something, go to either Best Buy or Radio Shack and ask for a CD cleaner.... you need the type that looks like an actual CD but its got a cloth texture.... this may clean the optics but I haven't seen these around anymore but maybe because I haven't been looking since they never solved my optic concerns

1999 mazda protege when starting of at a slow speed the car starts to buck and o/d light will flash

The tube after the air filter might be cracked (Fix it). Next the you will see the Mass Airflow Sensor. Unplug that and see if you car runs differently (better while driving, worse while idling). If so then it is definitely the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor). There is actually a recall on this part (at least, for the 2000 Protege). Also, try cleaning it and plugging it back in. Change spark plugs (OEM only, nothing fancy). Also, some gas does this worse than others.

Lots of oil leaking how many seals are there that could leak and is it a big job to fix. the leak appears to be on the back drivers side of the engine, it is a 1999 mazda protege 4 cylinder

you need to clean the engine off and fill it with oil,put your car on a hoist to find the oil leak when it starts so it doesn't run to other places and you think its leaking there.

2000 Mazda Protege has problem taking gas in.

Does this happen no matter what gas station you go to? If so then you may want to carefully check inside the the gas fill tube. If there are no obstructions then check the gas fill hose itself for kinks.

How do I replace the bulb for the headlight on a 1999 protege?

First I removed the power connector by squeezing the sides of it. Then you have to pull back the rubber hood from the light. Remove it completely and lay it aside. After that I pushed downwards on a metal tab to unhook a clip that holds the bulb in the mount. The tab is on the side of the bulb that is away from the motor. The bulb will come out easily then. Note the way it comes out and put it back the same way. There are 3 tabs on the bulb housing that need to go in the same place they came out of. This keeps the bulb secure I think.
